About the Hotel

A palace born from a Renaissance-era portico, right on a mineral spring. A tribute to the regenerating power of thermal waters. The portico, commissioned by Grand Duke Ferdinando I de’ Medici, lies in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, amid rolling hills, cypress woods and small churches. The spectacular panoramic pools as well as the ones used for treatments and relaxation are filled with the natural heat of the thermal springs. Fonteverde is a jewel and a timeless haven where you can discover a new dimension of well-being and reach a higher level of harmony with the Equilibrium method. Relax at our resort and spa in Tuscany, where the unmistakable style of Italian hospitality meets the essence of pure wellness.

Luxurious thermal hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had to come to Fonteverde four years ago, but two days before leaving, we were called by the Italian Court for the adoption of a child; therefore, we had to cancel our trip, but we have always told we will come back in three guests. And here we are. Fort Verde is a magnificent property nestled a little bit in the middle of nowhere in the beautiful high part of the Val d’Orcia. As soon as you arrive, you realize this is a special place as everything, from the gate, is elegant and well maintained. The hotel as a historic building, and then a big modern part which hosts the majority of the services and the rooms. Welcome was professional and friendly. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a beautiful suite while we booked only a junior suite. The room was very large and classically designed with some modern touches. It featured two bathrooms and a huge terrace that in summer must be beautiful as the view was really great. The main part of the hotel is without doubt the thermal area : a true spa (salus per acquam) with a series of outdoor and indoor pools, gym, sauna etc etc. A part of the spa is also open to external guests but there is a dedicated area to hotel only guests and this made the experience very enjoyable. Breakfast was nice and we also had dinner in the restaurant one night: the maître d’ hotel Gianni was very nice, especially with our six years old child! We have also to mention Deborah (I hope it is the correct name): she really knows how to please guests and was a delightful girl. We stayed only three nights but wish we could stay more. We look forward to visiting again!

Fantastic Place to stay

The moment you walk in you are made to feel welcome and relaxed. Our room was well appointed with a terrace so at night you could see all the stars. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel is very quiet. The breakfast is good with a good assortment. The bar has a good selections of tea. We loved the thermal waters. The spa was fantastic as the therapists were excellent. The restaurant is a must try. The food is excellent and we absolutely loved Antonio. He waited on us for breakfast and dinner and he was very kind and attentive. We cannot wait to come back.

A Perfect Spa Retreat in the Heart of Val d’Orcia

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Fonteverde is a wonderful spa hotel located in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, set within a historic Medici residence. To be completely fair, the historic building represents only part of the hotel, while the rest is a modern structure that blends harmoniously with the original residence. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well furnished, with extremely comfortable beds. The level of service is excellent and fully in line with what one would expect from a five-star hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant, which is also very beautiful, was of a high standard. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, including healthy options, and the wine list is excellent. Breakfast was outstanding as well, and I would especially like to highlight the quality of the croissants. Finally, the spa deserves special mention. The facilities are also open to external guests, except for one pool reserved exclusively for hotel guests. There are numerous indoor and outdoor pools, all very enjoyable. The Etruscan path is particularly pleasant and includes a sauna, Turkish bath, salt cave, and Kneipp path. The spa services are also of excellent quality. Overall, it was a perfect weekend dedicated to relaxation and self-care. Prices are appropriate for the level of service offered.

Fonteverde in San Casciano dei Bagni is an absolute dream. The thermal pools are incredibly relaxing, the views over the Tuscan countryside are stunning, and the whole place feels calm and luxurious. Perfect spot to slow down, unwind, and rechargeee!!

It was ok!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

I have slightly mixed feelings about the hotel. Fabulous Tuscan location, surrounded by olives and vineyards but beware it’s quite remote( which is not a negative just worth noting). Spa facilities are fantastic with natural (and really hot) thermal water but the hotel itself could have been better. This hotel belongs to the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’ group (or is a member of) but neither rooms nor restaurant were really up to standard. The bathroom / bedroom were dated and for sure needed updating and bedding was not good enough. Restaurant staff were great but food lacked attention to detail and real quality. Two examples: on one of the evenings we selected beetroot dish with Greek Yoghurt and some Greens- they left off the Greek yogurt but said nothing and also on one of the evenings served wine with a very noticeable chip in one of the glasses. Enjoyed the stay- would I go back again, probably not!
