Originally built in the 17th century by the great Italian architect Carlo Fontana, Grand Hotel Continental Siena is a jewel in the heart of the Tuscan city of Siena. Its transformation from a splendid aristocratic home to one of the world's most elegant hotels inspired a painstaking restoration, and the hard work was indeed worthwhile. With its original architectural features and magnificent frescoes, including a wall painting of St. Christopher dating from the 15th century, the hotel is now an integral part of the city's cultural heritage.

The GH Continental is well known to be the best hotel in Siena and this is absolutely true! First: the location, really excellent! Secondly the atmosphère of the whole building, really magnificent! You really have the impression of being in the renaissance years! The room was Classic but confortable and our Little balcony had the picture perfect view on the duomo and the roofs of Siena. We had dinner at their cafe and it was nice. The staff were excellent, with special note for the reception team. Last but not least: the breakfast…maybe one of the best we have ever had in a hotel: despite the limited spaces (breakfast is served in the beautiful rooms Of the Sapordivino restaurant) it was really abundant in quantity and quality. Best way to start the day and enjoy the visit of Siena!

The hotel was really nice, they did a great job keeping it traditional. Staff were great, especially the young man at the front desk, gave us great local recommendations. Very central, every thing was easily with in walking distance.

My husband and I spent 2 wonderful days/ nights at this gorgeous hotel. Prior to our arrival Massimo, the concierge was so helpful and responsive. He gave us great recommendations for restaurants and reserved a fantastic local guide for a walking tour. We booked the hotel through Amex Platinum Travel and we received the most gorgeous upgraded suite. We had a view of the Cathedral and Tuscan countryside and small alleyways in Siena. The colors both at sunrise and sunset were stunning. We enjoyed a delicious complimentary local wine and food tasting in the bar area. Laura and Gianpaolo at the front desk warmly greeted us each time we came back to the hotel and were very helpful. The bar and restaurant staff were also wonderful. The hotel is elegant and has many comfortable spots to relax and enjoy a drink either before dinner or after! This truly is a magical place to stay, one we will never forget

This is an elegant and refined hotel, and if you happen to luck upon the right room, you will have an experience here that you might not be able to to get anywhere else in Siena. Or anywhere in the world, for that matter. Knowing nothing at the time, we reserved room 505. This room happens to be in the tower with an astonishing 360 degree view of Siena. To be in a palazzo built by a Pope in 1677 is unique, all on its own. To be at the top of the tower in this palazzo? Once-in-a-lifetime, and absolutely worth it! The “room” itself is a two floor suite. The first floor has a spacious bedroom, two bathrooms, one with a full-sized bathtub, shower, and bidet. The bed is comfortable and the sumptuous bedding luxurious, and there is a separate “pillow menu” offering a wide range of pillow options, including scented and memory foam and other surprises. The second floor is the reason to get this hire. It features the view, which is breathtaking. It is lavishly equipped with a desk fit for a prince, bookcases with unusual old editions, a full coffee and tea service, and a sitting area with a sofa, couch, coffee table and armchair. We had complimentary macarons as well as a high hat of prosecco waiting for us. The two rooms had multiple arrangements of fresh cut flowers as well as an orchi in full bloom. The walls were exquisitely padded, and delicate period art was on all surfaces. If I am giving you the impression that this suite is sumptuous, I have succeeded. I am to understand that nobility has stayed in this hotel, such as Queen Marguerita of Savoy, as well as modern day luminaries such as Andrea Bocelli and Daniel Craig. It would not surprise me if they stayed in that very suite. Do yourself a favor. If you are in Siena, stay here. The staff are exceedingly gracious, helpful, welcoming, and will make you feel like royalty. You will not regret it.
