Reviews for OUTRIGGER Fiji Beach Resort

Amazing

The staff are super friendly and really personalise your experience. Everything was so easy and relaxing with plenty to do. Most of our trip was spent at the adult pool as we loved the swim up bar, and booking the bure really made our trip.

Some Great and Some Good at Outrigger

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Family of four (10 year old twins). Stayed mid November. There is a lot to love about the Outrigger but there is also some that one can only like. It nails being a beautiful, family friendly resort so it was disappointing I. how little it felt like it would take for this property to be GREAT. First the great. We stayed in a beachfront Bure. I know this might be out of some people’s budget, but if you can swing it, it’s absolutely worth springing for. Besides feeling like you have your own house on the beach, it also comes with some amazing perks. A butler who will bring you snacks and drinks every evening (Asana was amazing), complimentary laundry, a happy hour night and all the bottled water you can drink (this is a much bigger perk than you think). The location is near everything (except the lobby which was a major annoyance when my key stopped working) and you sleep to the sound of the waves. The hotel also provides rides in golf carts if you need to get around, which wasn’t an issue for us. Again, stay in Bure if you can! The food was also great. The buffet provided a nice breakfast, but I’d avoid it for every other meal as the other three restaurants are far superior for lunch/dinner. The pool was nice, very kid friendly, and there was always some sort of activity going on. The Adult pool was amazing and I wish we got to spend more time there. Also, the spa was one of the best I have ever visited with a view not to be missed. Now to the good/not great. First, their meal packages and all inclusive options are a mess. Half the staff didn’t seem to understand the rules and the all inclusive ultimately felt like a bait and switch. Our first meal there was breakfast and I ordered a pineapple smoothie. I was shocked when a $14 bill arrived as the smoothie wasn’t included in our All Inclusive package. Many drinks and snacks are not included in the “all inclusive” package and with this package you can only get beverages (including water) between the hours of 11a-9p. Do you want a Bloody Mary in the morning or an after dinner cocktail? It will cost you, and drinks are not cheap and they are also poured very weak! The bartenders measure each shot of alcohol. I wanted the all inclusive for my family so we wouldn’t worry about the cost during our trip but even on the “All Inclusive” packages it felt like we were constantly getting nickel and dimed. Make sure you have a full understanding of what is included when you are presented the options at check in because it is non refundable and you have to make the choice for your entire trip on day 1. Not a day went by where I didn’t see somebody complaining about their all inclusive package. The resort really needs to modify their packages and make sure the staff understands the different tiers. The beach activities were also severely lacking. They are only offered during high tide, which on some days didn’t start until 12:30p. The beach is much more like a lagoon than white sand and it is very difficult to navigate without water socks. It’s beautiful, but beach volleyball, some sort of motorized sport or some extra (included) activities would be nice. Nighttime activities were also severely lacking. They had turtle/crab/frog racing that oddly became adult like betting rings instead of family fun. There’s really only one bar at night and it was kind of dull. The performers at the restaurants were great, but unless you pay for the fire walking (kind of meh) or one of the cultural events, there is not much to do post dinner. Overall, my family had a great stay and I would ultimately recommend The Outrigger again to anyone staying on the main island. It’s a gorgeous property, they just seem to care more about charging a little something here and there than providing guests with top notch (included) amenities and activities like a great 5 star resort would.

Good but not great

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The rooms seemed to be partially set up, there was nothing in the refrigerator, no slippers or other vanity kits that was available in my previous stay.. TV had issues it wouldn't turn on and than when it started working , it kept on turning on even when it was turned off. The bathroom floor seemed to be wet all the time, the tiles had water under each making all bath mats wet and messy. Breakfast didn't have as much variety... no salmon or fish options, no chicken options, vegetarian curries didn't looking appealing. No salmon even on seafood buffet. The coffee machine pours a lot of water making the coffee really watery... not worth calling a latte or a flat white. Only carrot juice available as fresh juice in buffet breakfast.expectwr watermelon atleast. Baravi staff happily organized a free birthday cake slice and sang happy birthday for us..great energy... Staff are friendly. The vuki doing braids seemed to be very angry as we were a few mins late... she was not friendly at all. Poolside and blow up was a hit among the kids. Overall a good stay but would think again about visiting..

Location was great for us. Nice and relaxing. We have a ocean view, the butler with drinks and canopies was a great touch, felt luxurious. Room could of done with a lick of paint. Service was amazing, spent a lot of time at the adult only area. Restaurants amazing you won't go hungry. Spa was amazing we did a sunburn treatment worked the magic. Staff go out of there way to make the trip amazing. Tipping is compulsory but I did because of the service

Not the experience I expected.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Hoping this would be somewhere we could snorkel and explore the foreshore and get a better idea of local life with the Fiji people. What we saw was a big hotel resort that were nothing more than what was available in Nadi etc. No snorkeling unless you want to get on a boat and pay $$. As far as the resort it has all you need to keep everyone entertained within the resort and some scheduled field trips to see the local lifestyle. I recommend seeing the pottery ladies at the nearby village. Take plenty of cash to support the ladies that create the pottery and help their community. By take money I mean take at least $300-$500 to be able to purchase from all of the stalls there. The ladies count on your money to feed their family’s. If you like your food then you’ll love this resort. Food 24-7 . At a cost of course. The seafood restaurant was the best meal we had. I would have liked to be able to give a star to good staff that helped us along the was as a thank you, like a point system and then the leading employee gets the tip jar associated with the point/star system each day.
