Raffles Hotel Singapore

Raffles hotel is an unmissable Singapore attraction, its colonial architecture is almost an anachronism in this modern city, and the building quite recently had a freshen up. The building both inside and out is a tribute to design and craftsmanship that probably doesn’t exist anymore. The gin sling served in the Long Bar is legendary. It must be, as the afternoon we went there was a queue of 30-40 people around the balcony waiting about 45 minutes for admission. To the matre’d credit, couples were not pushed to a table for four to share with strangers although some may have prerred that arrangement. Each table gets a large bag of peanuts and tradition says drop the shells all over the floor. One Singapore Sling and one Planters Punch a handful of peanuts later, and we’re away $Au110 poorer but experience richer.

As part of stay in Singapore obviously we had to visit Raffles. We waited just under an hour for entry! It was really nothing to write home about, typical tourist rip-off venue! The ladies enjoyed the Singapore Slings and we enjoyed the beers! Prices over the top! Atmosphere lacking too!

Raffles Hotel is outstanding. We absolutely loved it. The service, hospitality and ambience is unmatched. I loved the Sikh Punjabi doormen, who are in charge of welcoming guests upon arrival. Harpreet Singh & Narinder Singh were very friendly.

Had a wonderful stay during our 1st wedding anniversary with Raffles Hotel. Service and the room was great as usual. What was special this time was the history tour we had with Mr Nazir Yusof, the resident historian who brought us on a trip back into the deep history of Raffles Hotel and the many great names who had stepped foot here. Highly recommended tour if you have a chance to!

Whilst already staying at this fantastic luxury hotel, we decided to find out about a little more about its history. Mr Yusof the resident historian, gave us a truly fascinating and enjoyable insight, into the growth of the hotel over the years. Like all of the staff at Raffles, he was proud to share his experiences, as part of the hotel ‘family’. We could not have been looked after any better, with exemplary hospitality service. Thank you to all of the staff, who should ALL be proud of their levels of service.
