I had the pleasure of joining the Heritage Tour at Raffles Singapore last weekend. As a Singaporean, I thought I already knew quite a bit about Raffles Singapore and its rich heritage, but Mr Sukar completely exceeded my expectations. It turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had at this iconic hotel. A huge thank you to Resident Historian Mr Roslee Sukar whose passion, knowledge and storytelling made the experience truly unforgettable. As the only local in the group, I was touched that Mr Roslee Sukar made a conscious effort to ensure I never felt left out. He constantly engaged me with questions (many of which I deliberately answered with, “I don’t know!”) to give him the perfect opportunity to share even more fascinating stories and historical insights with the group. Although the tour was scheduled for just 45 minutes, Mr Roslee was so generous with his time and knowledge that it stretched well beyond that. Not a single one of us complained—we were completely captivated and could have listened to him for even longer! One of my favorite part was the Walk of Fame, especially the wonderful story he shared about his encounter with Michael Jackson. Seeing his photos with MJ was surreal, and I must add—Mr Sukar was quite the handsome gentleman in his younger days! I also loved learning about the rich history of Raffles Singapore, from the famous tiger incident to its connections with Mr Lee Kuan Yew and so many other remarkable stories that brought the hotel to life. It felt like being given privileged access to Singapore’s history in a way that no other hotel has ever offered. If you’re staying at Raffles Singapore—or even if you’re a local looking to rediscover Singapore’s heritage—I cannot recommend this tour enough. Thank you, Mr Roslee Sukar for making history so engaging, personal and memorable. I’ll certainly be back for another visit!

My 10 glorious days filming at Raffles for Fred’s Ultimate Hotels started & ended with doorman Dave! Sweetest welcome & even sweeter farewell. What a gentleman. Felt so well looked after by him as I trudged home in the heat after a long long day with my crew. Authentic interaction that makes you feel special are truly what Ultimate hospitality is about, Dave and many others amongst the extraordinarily caring staff at Raffles really made my stay one of if not THE most memorable hotel stay of my life. Even though it was a work trip and I was making a film to document the amazing standards this hotel sets, they made me feel like the King of England! Or even a worshipped warrior prince of Ireland!! This sounds like I’m being over dramatic but it’s the 100% truth of it. What a beautiful time. Also the food at 1887…. Like just wow!!!

Narendra Singh met us at the entrance and was the most friendly and helpful ambassador - doorman. Gave great recommendations and went out of his way to provide excellent service!
