Lovely but a bit regimented for kids stuff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The rooms and pool were lovely and the food was really good. The lobby was exceptional. This would have been a 5/5 except for 3 things: 1. It’s slightly out of the way. Grabs are cheap but it would have been nice to walk somewhere. 2. The kids club is lovely but paid and expensive (£50 for a three hour block) which means kids don’t just pop in for a bit. 3. You can only go to the kids pool once a day for a block. The last two things just made it feel a bit regimented for a holiday!

Family friendly but only a portion of it

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Everyone knows the brand, and there’s a lot to appreciate—especially as a family-friendly hotel. Thoughtful touches like activities to keep kids engaged during wait times, kid-focused snacks and amenities, and the overall attention to families stand out. The quality of the robes and slippers is excellent too (though realistically better suited for kids 4+ given the sizing). The property itself is lovely—nestled in a beautiful, quieter location away from the Marina Bay crowds. It has its own charm and offers a chance to experience Singapore beyond Marina Square, which feels especially magical during the December holiday season. The staff were consistently warm, polite, and welcoming. The décor is impressive, the lounge areas are comfortable, and the lobby is spacious and inviting. That said, I wanted to share some areas where the experience fell short—especially for families with young children: • The kids’ dental kit includes adult toothpaste, which isn’t suitable for toddlers. This felt like an oversight for a hotel that otherwise markets itself as highly family-oriented. • There was no small step stool in the bathroom for toddlers to independently use the sink. Many family-friendly hotels provide this, so it was surprising not to see it here. • We stayed in the Tower Wing after having to cancel our Treetop themed room due to rescheduling. Unfortunately, the Tower Wing room felt cramped and not particularly family-friendly—limited space makes it easy for active kids to bump into things. • The bathroom layout was awkward, with very limited space beyond basic use. • I reached out multiple times asking if we could briefly view and photograph the themed suites for social media, but this wasn’t accommodated—even though availability appeared visible in the Shangri-La Circle app. This was disappointing. • Check-in time is 3:00 pm, but our room wasn’t ready until 3:45 pm. We had arrived at 1:30 pm and were waiting with two jet-lagged, tired young children, which made the delay especially frustrating. • I booked the room via email and wasn’t informed about add-on options for the indoor playground (BUDS). Access is S$45 per child, with two sessions available: 9:00–11:30 am and 1:30–6:30 pm. This would have been helpful to know in advance.

Really good

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We just spent 4 nights here and while it’s not perfect it’s still really good and I really recommend a stay Let’s start with the good stuff which covers everything from check it, facilities, the room and service- all brilliant Less good:: S$20 for a bottle of water is clearly a rip off as is S$440 for my wife’s pedicure. The Shangri-La should be above this sort of ludicrous pricing and I suggest the management investigate The breakfast area was always chaotic and needs to be improved Recommended

Never again, noisy hotel with poor room to room sound insulation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

It is impossible to have a quiet night if you have somehow “talkative” neighbors or kids who are notoriously unruly these days. The walls are paper thin, probably due to the fact that it’s a hotel build way back when. The pool and overall setting is highly attractive to families, so if you are looking for a good nights rest, this hotel is NOT for you. For logistics reasons I “had” to chose this hotel but I’ll never come back. I normally stay in other hotels in Singapore for exactly this reason.

An excellent kids' friendly stay in the heart of the city!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Shangri-La Singapore is truly a wonderful destination for families. From the moment we arrived, the kids were made to feel special with a warm welcome and thoughtful goodies, which set a lovely tone for the stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, perfect for families. The staff throughout the property are extremely friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. There are excellent facilities for children, including a fun splash pad and a well-organized kids’ club that kept them happily engaged. The food was very good, with a decent spread of vegetarian options, which was much appreciated. The location is also convenient, making it easy to get around the city. Overall, a very kids-friendly hotel that combines comfort, great service, and family-focused amenities. Highly recommended for families visiting Singapore.
