Once my favorite — sadly, standards have slipped Fairmont used to be my absolute favorite, and I still have a lot of love for this place. But unfortunately, it’s been declining year after year. Many years ago, weekends featured live bands, and the rooms felt special: there were plush robes, slippers, and complimentary bottles of wine and water — small but meaningful touches that made the experience memorable. This time, the wine was still there, but noticeably cheaper, and I didn’t even feel like opening it. There was no complimentary water in the room — I woke up thirsty in the middle of the night and had to drink tap water from the bathroom sink. The robes weren’t provided either. My biggest disappointment, though, was the spa. They used to offer a lovely spread of light snacks: nuts, dried fruits, muffins, and cookies. Now it’s just apples and tea. When I asked about it, the staff explained that they had “switched to seasonal fruit” starting in April. If they had switched to strawberries, bananas, or grapes, I would have understood — but instead, they offered tired-looking apples that didn’t even seem fresh. And apples aren’t truly a seasonal fruit in April; they’re leftovers from last fall. It felt more like a cost-cutting move than an upgrade. Meanwhile, spa access now costs $69 on top of the room charges, which are $600+ per night. At this price point, I expect an outstanding experience — and sadly, that’s no longer what Fairmont delivers. Farewell, Fairmont. I will most likely not return. There are simply better options in the valley for this kind of money.

Everything is great as always only one big problem You change the menu for dinner. It’s a lot worse than before. It will be great if you can return dinner menu as was last year. It was a lot of nice steaks and ribs lambs nothing is now like this. Everything else is great. I always nice people. Nice environment thank you very much.

“If I Ever Go Looking For My Heart's Desire Again, I Won't Look Any Further Then My Own Backyard.” - Dorothy I booked a room here in town where I live for my cousin and I and I felt like I traveled over the rainbow to an entirely different world of luxury, comfort, peacefulness and escape. Our trip was perfect from beginning to end. Christian at valet, Alyssa at check in, and the dinner in Sante was more than a meal, it was a culinary experience. Marina and Melissa made us feel pampered and spoiled. The food and service is amazing. The duck, tortellini and cippolini onions were unique, perfectly prepared and flavorful. Gabriel had the absolute best suggestions for wine pairings. And now they have a good neighbor discount that everyone in Sonoma should enjoy. Thank you Fairmont.

Both my daughter and I loved our treatments. She had a stress massage before her wedding in two days and I had a massage / wrap from Jessica. We would come again. We only wished we would have had time for the pool. We will be back next tome we're in Sonoma

Yes it was clean, yes the bed was comfortable. But we paid three times the amount we usually pay for a hotel stay and the room was very stark, nothing special. WHAT WERE WE PAYING FOR!?!! The room cost a fortune and it didnt even give us extra box of Kleenex. No sitting room area, no fire place, no balcony, not even a little piece chocolate on your pillow. I was beyond disappointed. The lobby was also stark and undecorated, nothing like it looks on the website. Also went to the bar and my little drink that cost me $23 tasted terrible, i didnt even finish it. And a complaint of the 3rd party booking. You made it look like we were booking direct with the hotel. I had no idea we were booking thru a 3rd party, so our complaints “landed on deaf ears” at the front desk. They didn't care because we didnt book with them. We wont be back😤

From our first greeting outside the hotel to our departure we met some wonderful employees of the Sonoma Mission Inn. All were friendly and helpful...exceptional.

The grounds were beautiful; the roaring fires in the fire pit and the lobby fireplace were welcome on a chilly autumn night. The valet parkers were very friendly and quick! They were the staff that consistently called us by name.
