Perfection

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

A beautiful, well-managed property. So perfectly designed and well-maintained from the room to the lobby to the grounds, bar, restaurant and pool. The front desk staff were so warm and welcoming, the valet men so friendly and professional. The bar is beautiful and the cocktails memorable. We did a quick one night get-away but ended up wishing we had planned to stay more days. We’ll spend three days there next time and just enjoy the tranquility of it all.

Great secluded hotel in heart of Sonoma

Had a lovely 2 day stay at MacArthur Place, where I was working from hotel in between two trips in Northern CA. Everyone I encountered was so friendly and helpful. I arrived at 10am, obviously much too early to check in, and they immediately set me up in their conference room to work for a few hours before the room was ready. Nice room (22), comfy bed, fabulous shower/water pressure, great food at restaurant and bar, lively bar scene starting around 5pm. There's a gorgeous pool with staff serving cold drinks. The loungers and towels could stand to be upgraded. For me the wifi in rooms and common areas was slow but it could have been my phone because it was faster on my laptop. Will come back when I don't have to work!

Absolutely an amazing experience. The grounds and rooms were amazing but nothing compared to their hospitality! Definitely recommend!

Service and attention to detail severely lacking.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The customer service leaves a ton falling through the cracks and there is a lack of any attention to detail and guest experience that you’d expect from a nicer hotel. Examples- Check in is at 4, by the time we got to our room and then to the pool, we were informed that it was last call for the pool bar and food service that stops at 5. The pool closes at 10, so we went for an evening swim and hot tub soak, while in the pool, around 9pm a maintenance man comes in and dumps chemicals into the hot tub, my partner gets his attention on his way out and asks if we can get in the hot tub, the man says no sorry wait like a half hour the leaves. After that, three more couples came to the pool area and we had to inform them that they shouldn’t get into the hot tub yet, everyone else was as bummed and confused as we were and I guess it was good thing we were there to tell them it wasn’t safe yet?? There is no do not disturb sign for the door, nor a physical latch inside which made the room feel like it was lacking in privacy and security. I intervened the housekeeper about to go in our room around 9:15am to clean while my partner was still asleep (DND sign would have been helpful here) She acted put off when I asked her to come back later. She didn’t. They do a turn down service at night, and leave a complimentary eye mask on the pillow but both nights we only got one mask. It’s not something I expected and theoretically a nice touch but the fact that they only leave one for two people stands out and seems silly and cheap. They gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for our anniversary, and a note that said enjoy this local wine. The wine was from France. We called the front desk to ask if they had playing cards or anything like that and the woman informed us that they used to but people stopped returning them, but there was a cvs in town that we could buy some at! There was a school right on the other side of the fence on our patio and there were kids chatting and yelling, our visit was during the summer so I imagine it will be much worse when school is in session. There are windows from the room above us that looked right down into our outdoor shower, we couldn’t tell if they were frosted or not but again definitely felt like it was lacking in privacy. There was no body wash in the dispenser of the outdoor shower. A pretty basic thing they should check In between guests. The map of the campus says that valet parking is free. It is not free. Overall, the grounds are pretty, and the server at the pool was really nice and the French fries were great and the bedding is comfortable but they have A LOT of work to do if they’re going to continue marketing this place as a “luxury” hotel
