We stayed at MacArthur Place to celebrate a special occasion and had a mixed experience. Layla was excellent. The heated bathroom floors were a great touch and we really enjoyed the steam room. Outdoor shower was a cool touch too. They were also very accommodating for our dog. Unfortunately, there were ants in our room coming through a loose wall outlet. The front desk offered to move us, which we appreciated, but we didn’t want to repack during a short celebratory stay. I had also called ahead to coordinate something for the occasion and was told someone would follow up, but no one ever did. The pool was colder than expected and the gym felt limited. There’s a lot to like about the property and certain amenities, but at this price point we expected tighter execution.

Phenomenal Stay
Just a fantastic place to stay for couples. Each cottage is independent and the property is phenomenal. Great value as well compared to other resorts in wine country.

Charming getaway in the heart of Sonoma
Great location, within 10 mins walk from downtown Sonoma. The property is charming, quaint and quiet. The garden suite is very spacious and has a lovely fireplace, outdoor shower, tub and private patio. Bathroom is huge with lovely amenities including the softest robe and Dyson hairdryer. Rooms were spotless, with great window treatments for privacy and blackout to sleep. Staff was warm and welcoming and the cafe serves excellent coffee and pastries for a quick grab and go in the morning! The outdoor pool is large and the pool area is very nice. The spa is ok, with treatment rooms, a steam room, outdoor jacuzzi and outdoor lounge area, but not the focus of the resort. There are lovely areas around the grounds to sit by fire pits and enjoy the outdoors. The bar has a great atmosphere although it was quiet while I was there, and the restaurant has a lovely aesthetic, including a great outdoor patio. There are various meeting spaces for small or large groups, as well as a lovely lawn for weddings or outdoor events. One of the best perks is complimentary wine tastings at any of the Foley Family wineries, which can be arranged by the concierge.
