Adrift in the heart of Italy's Sorrentian peninsula, along the breathtaking Amalfi Coast, proprietors Cinzia and Antonino Cannavacciuolo proudly welcome you to their charming little haven by the sea. The Cannavacciuolos wanted to create a warm and serene setting, where guests could relax while listening to the sound of the sea, and Laqua By the Sea does that perfectly. At this intimate boutique hotel with just six guest rooms, all of which boast exquisite views of the Gulf of Sorrento, neutral tones and décor blend with the soft citrus fragrance wafting off the coastline and the sounds of the gently lapping sea to create an enchanting environment where the charm of Southern Italy meets the passion of the North.

The service in this hotel was so outstanding that it made the whole trip. The rooms are very spacious and they have a cool vibe. The balcony with the pool/jacuzzi (not hot but nice) is such a beautiful place to enjoy down time and a stunning view. The breakfast delivered each morning was good. The wellness center was not as expected. It was only a sauna and a hot tub that was not nearly hot enough. I didn’t use the spa services but my friends had massages that they really enjoyed. The only thing I could point out is that the bathroom design could be better. There needed more hooks for towels in the bathroom and by the pool. They needed more counter space by the sink. There is no privacy for the shower. It is also about 15 minutes to Sorrento Center. While we liked that it was more quiet away from the crowds, we needed to take a taxi to get into the center and they are not cheap. There is an excellent restaurant a block away called Tavernetta Cinquantotto and a nice pizza/pasta place called Tico Tico down the stairs by the water. This gave us some good options to avoid going into the town center. The true superstars were the staff that helped us with taxis, tours, spa appointments, etc. Martina, Luigi, Roberta and Claudia were unbelievably helpful and always took care of every request (via What's App) with friendly and efficient responses. I would love to try some of the sister properties when I go back to Italy because they really set the bar.

A fantastic stay outside of Sorrento, which is crammed with tourists from every neck of the world. Meta is quieter and more local, with admittedly fewer restaurant options but fantastic beach clubs and the relentless support of Laqua staff. A perfect getaway on the Amalfi coast that feels all yours...as well as those who share Laqua with you. The sole drawback of the space (with beautiful rooms, a pool attached to each, and breakfast & spa included each day) is that there is not a huge amount of privacy out on the deck/pool area, as you are only separated from your neighbors by a current that billows from the winds off the sea. 9/10.

The hotel staff was very friendly and the pool outside the room was amazing after a long hot day in sorrento. The room were very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. It’s a little far from the town of sorrento but I liked how quiet it was. The pools are only separated by a curtain so at times your neighbors can be too close for comfort but overall everyone was respectful.

Let me start by saying that the staff were fabulous. They were so helpful and this was truly appreciated. Everything else was sadly a disappointment on all levels. We expected an amazing experience having seen the website and given the cost of the stay expected a premium experience. This wasn’t the case: the rooms are just ok, shabby in places with poor cheap blinds; the showers open to the room via the glass and there is little to no privacy. We had to ask at least twice for the water and the toiletries to be replaced after cleaning. There is no communal space for sitting or eating at all and breakfast served in your room. Curtains give privacy from your neighbours but the noise from both the other guests and those around the hotel was awful. We had to ask some neighbours on one evening to be quiet at 12.30am. Additionally, the curtains effectively create a restricted view and the infinity pool you see on the website is not a true reflection of what is available at all. You feel boxed in. The spa is nice but only available to you 1 hour per day. This is allocated by the hotel and given 1 was at midday and 2 others at 7pm we simply could not use them. As there’s nowhere to relax by a pool at the hotel or sit other than in your room you have to be out during the day. 7pm we would have been having dinner. There were no alternatives to these times so we only used the spa once. Meta is not walkable to sorrento and it’s a bus or a train ride. The area of Meta is a residential suburb with not so much to do. Overall his was an expensive mistake and we would not stay here again/ we would reconfirm less expensive places in better locations who deliver what they suggest they offer.
