About the Hotel

What was once a 16th-century working plantation is now an eco-friendly Caribbean hideaway that pays homage to its storied past. Fond Doux Plantation & Resort, located on the island of Saint Lucia, in the historical center and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Soufrière. The tidy wooden cottages, many cloaked in a crisp white hue, dot the tropical retreat and provide a space for guests to lounge on front porches and enjoy the lush scenery and foliage. Interiors are equally charming, with a blanket of wooden planks coating the floor, rattan furnishings and broad French doors that push open to marry the indoors with the outside.

Amazing experience

Stayed in Angelina. Loved it! Gorgeous yellow house for my friend and me, with so much Caribbean character. The decor was beautiful. We loved sitting on the veranda and looking at the gorgeous trees and plants, watching birds, enjoying the peace. At night the noise from the tree frogs was incredible but the beds were very comfortable and they didn't keep us awake! It felt like such an amazing experience to be among the trees and listen to the wildlife. The restaurant was very good and the staff all very helpful and friendly. We did the chocolate heritage tour which was very interesting too.

A wonderful experience!

Had a most wonderful stay for a week at this hotel - absolutely different from any other experience. Although it rained every day (it is not called the rain forest for nothing!) it was so relaxing to sit on the porch of Cinnamon and watch the humming birds on the flowers. (Be aware that at night the whistling tree frogs and insects are NOISY!) Shyne was a wonderful guide who took us around the estate tour, the chocolate tour (where we made our own bar of chocolate) and also the historical tour. The food was excellent (we unfortunately discovered how good fried bakes were!) and the staff so friendly both in reception, the restaurant and the bar. We walked to the Hotel Chocolat for lunch one day, and also walked the Tet Paul trail from the hotel (hard work but well worth the uphill climb!) For future guests the on site trail to see the Pitons is quite easy going up, but quite rocky on the return circuit (it is a circular trail). Also - if you take the mini bus to Sugar Beach it drops you at security which is quite a long way down to the beach - and hard work on the way back - we were 1 minute late (it returns at 3pm) and it had left early - we had to contact reception who luckily sent a car to pick us up! (As a word of warning - the restaurant at Sugar Beach is excessively expensive we were charged 13 US dollars for a bottle of water(nearly £10) and this is the only place in 2 weeks where we were charged for water! We had to eat there as it was pouring with rain - a burger, a jerk chicken, 1 beer and 1 coke and a bottle of water was nearly £100!.

A Magical Twist in St. Lucia – When a Cancelled Flight Becomes a Dream Detour My adventure in St. Lucia was already unforgettable, a place where the warmth of the people leaves a lasting impression on your heart. But it was on the day I was meant to return to England that the island showed me a little more of its magic. Adverse weather had swept through, grounding all flights. No plane could land or take off. As the airport slowly emptied out after the rush and excitement of the day, a quiet stillness settled over the space. Only a few of us remained—stranded, but calm. British Airways handled the situation wonderfully, offering support and reassurance. But there we were, a handful of travelers surrounded by silence, wondering what to do next. Then came a beautiful twist. A kind airport receptionist suggested we head to Fond Doux Eco Resort, just 40 minutes away. My friend was still debating, but I felt a calm certainty. Something about St. Lucia’s beauty and the kindness of its people made it easy to trust the journey. I looked at the gentleman next to me and said, “Let’s do this.” Soon, we were in a transfer van, driving through the warm, tropical night. The storm had passed, the skies had cleared, and the road to Soufrière felt like a dream. When we arrived at Fond Doux, we were greeted warmly by staff who looked like kings—tall, strong, and dignified. Security welcomed us and guided us through the lush, dark beauty of the cocoa plantation that surrounded the resort. Then came the best part: my room. They called it The Tree House, nestled above the grounds, up a short hill climb—a perfect fit for a fitness lover like me. As the door opened, I was welcomed by a tranquil, tropical haven. The peaceful energy of the space was immediate. Calm. Serene. Blissful. I took a moment to meditate and simply breathe it all in. Later, my friend called—he had found snacks and drinks waiting in his room. A thoughtful gesture from the hotel that spoke volumes after the chaos of a cancelled flight. In the end, what began as a setback turned into a moment of paradise. Fond Doux wasn’t just a place to stay—it was the highlight of a journey I never expected. If you ever find yourself in St. Lucia, trust the island. Stay a little longer. And definitely stay at Fond Doux.
