Having travelled to luxury beach resorts for 15 years, the one that will stand out for us is Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. It will truly take your breath away. From the moment you arrive in the Maldives, you are welcomed with a beautiful 40-minute yacht transfer from Malé, which makes the journey incredibly comfortable and avoids the seaplane transfer. The experience begins with elegance even before you reach the island. The Maldives has always been on my bucket list, but since it is nearly 30 hours from my city, it was never easy to reach. During a five-country trip beginning in Dubai, we finally had the opportunity to visit — and it was absolutely worth it. The attention to detail that has gone into creating Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi is astounding. The décor of the resort — from the villas to the restaurants, spa, and bars — feels as if it has come straight out of Architectural Digest. The finest furniture, materials, lighting, and design elements have been thoughtfully selected. Nothing was spared when designing this extraordinary resort. The setting and atmosphere of Zuma, the restaurant that sits beautifully over the water, is something that must be seen to be believed. It is simply stunning. The entire island is surrounded by lush tropical landscaping and the most breathtaking crystal-blue waters. Many times during our stay I had to pinch myself and ask, “Is this real or a dream?” But it truly was real — it was Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. Every staff member we encountered had the most welcoming attitude and genuine smiles. They made us feel incredibly special throughout our stay. We stayed in an overwater villa that was truly magnificent with more than 3,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. Everything in the villa reflected pure luxury — from the furniture and artwork to the linens, towels, bath salts, robes, and amenities. It was without question the most beautiful accommodation we have ever experienced during our travels around the world. The designers clearly thought of every detail when planning the villas at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. Each villa is assigned a personal butler who is available for anything you may need. We communicated easily through WhatsApp, which made everything very convenient. Our dinner at Zuma was one of the highlights of the trip — entertaining, delicious, and set in a spectacular location over the lagoon. The other restaurants were equally wonderful, offering incredible variety and exceptional culinary experiences. One afternoon we spent time with a marine specialist, snorkeling and discovering colorful fish and sea turtles. The resort offers so many water activities and experiences that there is always something exciting to do. Every morning began with a leisurely breakfast with an extensive buffet as well as à la carte options — the perfect way to start another day in paradise. During our stay we met fascinating people from all over the world, and many of them were repeat guests — which truly says something about the resort. We also enjoyed relaxing spa treatments in a beautiful setting, including massages and facials with excellent therapists. Although our overwater villa with its private pool was difficult to leave, we also loved spending time on the pure white sand beach, which felt like something from a postcard. One experience that was surprisingly interesting was the “Back of the House” tour. It was fascinating to see where the team works and lives — including the staff village, laundry, cafeteria, and even the soccer field. We were told that Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi has some of the best staff facilities among luxury resorts in the Maldives. A resort this extraordinary does not happen without incredible leadership, creativity, and a passionate team working behind the scenes. He went above and beyond to ensure everything in our villa was perfect, always greeting us with a warm smile and thoughtful care. His attention to detail and dedication to guest comfort made us feel incredibly welcomed and well looked after. A resort like Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi does not reach such extraordinary standards without the guidance of exceptional leadership. The General Manager, Mr. TJ, is engaging, charismatic, and always present around the resort. He was an absolute delight and clearly cares deeply about creating unforgettable experiences for his guests. His passion for excellence shines through the entire team. Our six-night stay here was something dreams are made of. Even my husband said, “He is the best manager we have ever had at a hotel.” Mr. TJ, we truly adored meeting you. Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi has received numerous prestigious awards including Travel + Leisure World’s Best, Condé Nast Traveller Reader’s Choice Award, and the Forbes Five-Star rating, the highest recognition in the travel industry. What convinced me to choose this resort was when a well-known travel blogger said that among all the five-star resorts in the Maldives — this one was his favourite.

We had splendid time at the resort and are very impressed by everyone working there. We got to experience top level of hospitality and service.

The best holiday we’ve ever had! We were very sad to end our holiday here and my daughter made such an amazing connection with the ladies at kids club within a short time frame. From the moment we arrived, our concierge Siyam made us feel completely welcome. His kindness and attentiveness ensured that every detail of our stay was smooth and enjoyable. Our villa was a beautiful sanctuary, always perfectly arranged thanks to Nasid, our villa attendant. His dedication was truly remarkable — every day he ensured the villa was immaculate and comfortable. Behind this wonderful service was Aappe, the supervisor, whose leadership and genuine care were clearly reflected in the team’s dedication. Dining on the island was another highlight. With 11 incredible restaurants, we had so many wonderful choices. Li Long and Zuma stood out as our favorites. The Li Long team provided outstanding service, and Melody made the evening even more memorable. We would also like to thank Maryam from the restaurant, whose kindness and warm smile made every dining experience feel personal and special. What makes this island truly extraordinary is not only its beauty, but the people who create unforgettable moments for their guests. Because of them, this trip will always remain close to our hearts.

Fabulous experience here for our second time - this time returning with our 9 month old baby boy. We used the childcare services every day for 6hours and had a perfect relaxing holiday!
