The view is worth every penny!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

A beautiful location with a killer view! A bit pricey as is everything on the island, but worth every penny. Offseason visit was quiet but relaxing. Just what I needed. Would highly recommend. Can't wait to visit in warmer weather to take advantage of all the amenities.

Excellent location and hotel but food could have been better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Overall I rate this an 8.5/10 Excellent Rooms (do Cliffside because whilst you may get a decent room with Poolside its hit and miss). View is stunning and you get to look at the beach and watch the waves crashing. We came at a very quiet time and that meant on occasion we got the beach and pool to ourselves Excellent location - if you are coming to Bermuda you really want to be on the South Shore Beaches and I would say this is probably one of the best locations on South Shore as its a 20-25 minute walk to Horseshoe Bay, a 10-15 minute walk to the Lighthouse and a bit less to Henry 8th restaurant Gym was functional, with surprisingly higher kg loose weights Beach - superb and a huge highlight This property is on a slope so you will be getting in some exercise if you book into a Cliffside room What you see in the Reefs picture is not what you get. The whole left side of the Reefs is fractionally owned accommodation, and they have a newer pool, but the pool for the hotel guests whilst old was fine and the jacuzzi whilst also old a nice touch Food. This was sub-par. Whilst the breakfast was good and included in the price, some of the items could be variable (poached eggs the first day were hardboiled). We ate food one lunchtime and on one evening.. both were poor quality. My wife ordered cheese and meats plater for one of the meals and it was a joke.. it came with Pita bread that was rock hard, and wait for it.... BabyBel cheese as part of the food and some weird other items... I had some fish chowder.. inedible, and one of my kids had an inedible Pizza. The lunch whilst better was also forgettable.. One was a Haddock fish sandwich.. which was frankly awful.. management should put sauces on the side rather than all over the fish. After 1 lunch and 1 evening meal we decided we were not going to eat again in the Hotel except for the free breakfast (or room service as an emergency) Be careful if you are looking to book a taxi through the hotel as they call their 'friends' and a trip into Hamilton instead of costing $25-$30 will run you for at least $50.. download a taxi app and bypass the hotel for this or go by bus. If you have a several day bus pass this is a no-brainer Cant say we encountered any management whilst we were there which was probably a first for me Whilst my comments on food may seem harsh I just wanted to show a more balanced viewpoint. I would look to return dependent on price as you really cannot beat the location but management really needs to do something about the food quality, fortunately Henry 8 is less than 10 minutes walk away and all the meals we ate there were better than the Reefs. Going into Hamilton Balero Brasserie (French/Steaks) was the best we came across and a 10/10 for food though pricey for a family

Wonderful Christmas Stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We stayed at The Reefs from 12/22–12/26 and had a wonderful experience overall. Our room was beautiful, spotless, and had absolutely unbelievable views. The little details really elevated the stay—Elemis shower products, plush robes, and nightly turndown service with mint chocolates on the pillows. We especially loved the card each night with a fun fact (or a bedtime-style story) about Bermuda. The staff was consistently warm, attentive, and welcoming. Getting around / location: On 12/23 and 12/24, we bought the bus pass (which also includes ferry rides) and it was a game-changer. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and Bermuda’s bus system is easy to navigate. That said, if your priority is being close to the city center (Hamilton), this may not be the best location for you. The island is small, but The Reefs and the airport are on opposite ends, with Hamilton in the middle. If you’re looking for the widest variety of restaurants and nightlife, you’ll likely spend time in Hamilton. The bus ride from The Reefs to Hamilton took us about 25 minutes, and given how expensive Bermuda is (food and transportation especially), using public transit was a good choice for us. Everything closes from Christmas eve afternoon. Resort amenities: The resort itself is peaceful and enjoyable. There’s a heated pool, though it didn’t feel quite warm enough—on a 65° day it honestly felt like a cold plunge if you were going from the jacuzzi to the pool. The jacuzzi, however, was great and worked well. There’s also a spa on-site (we didn’t try it), afternoon tea (a nice touch, but keep expectations modest), and regular activities like a swizzle rum party and other events. We also liked that they frequently bring live entertainment/singers into the lounge—fun without feeling over-the-top. Food and drink: Solaris is on the property and we tried it for lunch: the fish and chips were just okay, while the fish chowder was decent—but we had a better chowder at La Trattoria. We had dinner one night in the lounge and, unfortunately, it was a miss. The food was so oversalted that the burger was genuinely inedible. That said, one of the biggest perks of our stay was the included breakfast, which was excellent. There was a buffet and the option to order à la carte from a menu with a lot of variety. Coffee and tea were included (though specialty drinks like lattes were not). We were genuinely so grateful breakfast was included—it was one of the best parts of the daily experience. One afternoon we came back from Hamilton and grabbed dessert in the lounge (chocolate cake), and that was excellent too. Overall: Despite a couple of food misses, we truly enjoyed our stay. The service, the views, the cleanliness, and the thoughtful touches made it feel special. The owners even stopped by to introduce themselves, which added to the warm, family-run feel. We’d happily return to The Reefs and would recommend it—especially if you want a relaxing resort stay and don’t mind commuting into Hamilton for more dining options.

An enjoyable, but flawed experience.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The hotel has an excellent location, with a private beach and facilities. In addition, the food and drink, together with the face-to-face service was first class. However, we had to move rooms, after two days, due to the lack of hot water in the bathroom shower and basin of the first room we stayed in. Furthermore, our credit card account was charged twice for the full amount of our stay; something was discovered after we returned to the UK. A full refund of the duplicated charge was provided some four days after it was brought to the attention of the hotel, and seven days after our departure.
