Cornaro Hotel

Great location, right on edge of old centre. Good facilities, friendly and helpful staff. Recommended.

We had a lovely short stay at Cornaro Hotel. The outside of the hotel is a bit unassuming but the inside is very lovely. Everything is well kept, clean, and modern. All the staff members were friendly and welcoming, especially those at the reception desk. We only stayed one night so we weren’t able to use all the amenities, but we thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop. The views of split and the port from the rooftop were spectacular. The rooftop itself was chic and the pool area looked wonderful although we didn’t get to enjoy it. Lunch and drinks were great! Our room was on the 5th floor and felt like a loft but was adequately spacious. The bed and pillows were so comfortable and allowed us to catch up on some much needed sleep. Breakfast that was included had great variety. I’m so glad we chose this hotel. It’s very central and steps away from great restaurants/shops. We will definitely stay here if we visit Split again!

This hotel calls itself a 5-star hotel, nothing could be more wrong! We asked for a soft bed as my wife has severe osteoarthritis which we did not get, when we checked in there was a completely incompetent girl at the reception who promised dearly that a "memoryfoam" mattress had been put in the beds. I think the staff at this hotel do not know what kind of mattress it is. There were no extra mattresses in any of the beds! Furthermore, the girl at the reception did not tell us which Wi-Fi we should use, let alone the password. Overall it was not a 5-star treatment. When we complained the next day, and showed the conversation we had with the hotel, to a man, he sent up a cleaning lady who started by thinking that an extra mattress cover, which is very thin, would be enough, luckily I was there and explained she did not understand at all what "memoryfoam" is. At breakfast we could quickly see that there were mostly pastries and a little good breakfast it felt like we were in the 1950s. Sourdough bread is apparently not something you know at this hotel, I didn't find yogurt, it was a pretty pointless breakfast buffet. No one informed us that there was a menu to order from, no one informed us that if we wanted we could have either local liqueur or a glass of cava, which we had appreciated. When we asked a younger waiter for more coffee, he disappeared without a trace with a bored expression so as not to show himself again. However, a nice woman appeared and gave us information. I ordered a cheese/ham omelette the next day and didn't think it tasted good, it was made with "pressed" ham not "fresh" as you have the right to expect from a 5-star hotel. I was asked by a female waitress why I didn't want it, why I explained it as it was, then she interrogated me in a very boring tone, why? did she do that I wonder. The air conditioning never worked during our stay and there were very hot days in Split I don't know how many times the technician was there to "fix" but nothing happened. When we point out these shortcomings at checkout the staff at the reception, including the girl who welcomed us, go on the defensive and claim that they certainly did everything she promised us. I could go on and on but I'll stop here as what I have now written describes a hotel that is 3.5 - 3.75 stars not a stardust more. Obviously the hotel Cornaro realizes that they have made a lot of mistakes when they send an email with an apology and a small amount of money in compensation which is also an insult.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our group of 8 stayed at Hotel Cornaro in several rooms, and we had a wonderful experience. The hotel is lovely, super clean, comfortable, and in a fantastic location for exploring Split. We really enjoyed the rooftop area, the dining spaces, and the food and drinks throughout our stay. The service was excellent all around. A special shout-out to the breakfast crew, who greeted us every morning with friendly smiles, and to Mario at the front desk for his extra care and attention. Truly, everyone we encountered was pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Hotel Cornaro to anyone visiting Split. The location is excellent, you are in the heart of Split old town. The hotel rooms are very large, very comfortable, with a great range of toiletries. The breakfast offers a wide range of food, some ready prepared others done to order, all which was very tasty. The rooftop bar is an oasis with food very tasty, drinks are more expensive but given the surrounding it was worth paying the extra. Trips you are given a beach bag and towels to use. The staff was so pleasant and always on hand to help in anyway. We loved Split and the Cornaro hotel helped play a large part in that. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Split. Would love to go back to Split soon and wouldn't book any other hotel. Thank you for an amazing time, and for looking after us so well ! 5* + all the way.
