To begin with the positives: the location is excellent—right in the heart of beautiful Split—and the decor is relatively stylish. However, we felt that the rooms lacked the comfort and standards typically expected from international five-star hotels. We stayed for four nights in April, and during that time, the air conditioning did not work in any of our rooms. The nights were uncomfortably hot and stuffy. The bed linens were also not as soft or luxurious as one would expect at this level. Additionally, turn-down service was inconsistently provided, even when requested. The hotel also lacks a proper concierge service—when we inquired, we were simply told, “We can recommend restaurants if you want.” The most stressful part of our stay was having to change rooms twice and still not finding satisfactory accommodation. Our first room was located right next to the elevator—every time it arrived at the floor, there was a loud, piercing “ding!” The housekeeping staff gathered there in the early mornings and spoke very loudly, making it difficult to rest. We were initially pleased with the second room, but the bed was extremely hard—like sleeping on a rock. The staff tried to help by adding a mattress topper and later changing the mattress, but unfortunately, it didn’t make a difference. I have a spine condition, and the bed caused severe discomfort. Thankfully, our son was staying in a room on a lower floor with a more comfortable bed. We ended up taking the room next to his, which was much smaller and less comfortable, and switched beds at night so we wouldn’t have to pack and unpack for a third time—a far from relaxing experience. This constant shuffling and lack of comfort certainly took a toll on our vacation. While we appreciated Split as a city and loved the surroundings, our hotel stay added unnecessary stress. The staff did offer to remove a massage charge from our bill as compensation, but frankly, we would have preferred to pay full price for a genuinely relaxing and worry-free five-star experience.

Modern facility at the edge of the Diocletian Palace in Split We were upgraded to a very large room with two beds and a spacious bathroom. Friendly and efficient staff Excellent buffet breakfast which included many local delicacies One drawback is that the pedestrian Road in front of the hotel can be noisy.

We stayed at Cornaro Hotel during a short trip to Dalmatia and absolutely loved it! The location is unbeatable — just a few steps from Diocletian’s Palace, which made it easy to explore the old town on foot. The room was spotless, stylish, and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the breakfast — a rich buffet with fresh local options and great coffee. The rooftop terrace with a view over the city was a lovely bonus for evening drinks. Staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help. Everything felt very smooth and well-organized from check-in to check-out. Highly recommended for anyone looking to stay in the heart of Split with great service and comfort - but very expencive
