Reviews for President Abraham Lincoln Springfield - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel

Not staying here again!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

If there was a rating less than zero, that is what I would put. We stayed 4 nights in April 2026. The Good stuff: 1. Ian, one of the evening wait staff in the hotel's restaurant, is a great waiter. 2. Chloe, one of the morning wait staff in the hotel's restaurant, is also a great waiter. Each of them should be promoted to management. Biscuits and gravy were the best I've ever tasted. I passed that on to Chloe to mention it to the chef. The Just Okay Stuff: 1. Location (however the Crappy Stuff far outweighs Location) The crappy stuff (which far outweighs The Good Stuff): 1. Parking. Parking is in a city garage. Leaving our car there was a concern the entire time. What a joke....there was a sign by the one elevator to the hotel lobby that said "Lock your car, secure your valuables. Thefts have been reported". Seriously? Hilton, why don't you spend a little money and secure the bottom two parking floors with gated and limited access. Require a hotel key to gain access to the lobby level. Felt very unsafe leaving the car there overnight. 2. Crappy water pressure, especially in the shower. Lame, lame, lame!! Impossible to get a decent shower during our entire stay. For the cost of our entire stay, I expected better. In fact, being a Hilton Honors member, regardless of cost, I expect a better experience. Work on it, Hilton. We will never ever ever stay here again when in the area. We will go back to Marriott.

As a Hilton Honors member, I was very disappointed in the hotel property. My room was sadly distressed. Furniture and bathroom were dilapidated. I had booked the hotel to attend a conference. At check in the reservation desk gleefully announced that I had not booked the highly discounted conference rate - and that it would not be extended to me. At the Globe restaurant I ordered a Reuben sandwich - which arrived with neither sauerkraut or thousand island dressing. Walls are thin as is the hospitality.

Ok, for an older hotel.

Hotel is fine, room was large and bed ok. But unfortunately we had a dreary view ....of the roof! Since the hotel didn't seem to be very crowded, they might have found something better for us; but..we were too tired to bother to ask. The chocolate chip cookies were very good, as usual. A more moderately priced breakfast would have been nice.

Probably OK if you get a cheap rate - Not what you expect from a Hilton/DoubleTree

Other than the perfect location, this hotel was a real let down. The front desk staff were great, and a lot of the people working for guest services were super. That about does it. Pictures online are probably 15 years old - so don't base anything on what you see! Old and shabby in our room at least. Positives: *great location! Walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see - but be aware that there is a TON of construction downtown at the time of this review (not the hotel's issue) *Lobby was clean and nice, and the front desk staff were helpful *snack shop was well stocked Some of our issues: *super expensive for what you get *poor signage as to where to go - we couldn't find signage for what floor the pool/workout was located *housekeeping came to our room and did a fine job cleaning, but left us no soap to wash our hands and left 4 people with one bath towel *there was a gap under the door that was probably about 2 inches *we had a handicapped accessible room, and there was NO counter included in the bathroom - everything had to sit on the small sink area or the floor - not exactly ideal *hot tub out of order *you pay for breakfast, and it was terrible *no clock? I know we all have phones these days, but a clock is still nice to have! *our room had a mini fridge, but we heard many other guests indicate they did not Overall, if you get a good deal on your room rate and want to be able to walk to the downtown historical sites, this isn't a bad hotel. Just don't let the name fool you as this is not really up to the expectation of the Hilton/Double Tree name. I would probably choose another location to stay if we were to come back to Springfield.

Okay as a transit hotel…but wouldn’t stay longer than a night

The hotel is going through refurbishment so depending where you are the hotel is either dated or more modern, our room was a good size, pretty clean, good size bathroom with a powerful shower. Springfield was very quiet no one around and no shops or restaurants open (that we could see). We found it eerie. The only place we could find open was an Irish bar….apart from the name nothing was Irish, we ate in the hotel bar, service was quick and friendly the food was okay. The hotel was okay asa transit hotel but for us we wouldn’t come back to Springfield (sorry)
