The only thing missing from Fairmont Royal Pavilion is the ordinary. An envious setting, magnificent accommodations, luxurious aura and attentive staff are all present and accounted for at this Caribbean hideaway. Located on the windswept western coast of Barbados, the resort houses a collection of stunning guest rooms that teeter on the brink of one of the island's best beaches. Glass doors slide back to reveal spacious terraces and million-dollar ocean views. The resort is family-friendly from April through October, with the remaining half of the year reserved for romancing couples.

After much research, I booked Fairmont for my family. I felt extremely expensive, but it was very last minute and I was able to find two rooms connecting. They guarantee connecting rooms if you book using their family offer. We loved our stay! The people are so friendly, rooms were quite nice with a big balcony overlooking the ocean. Housekeeping was everyday with turndown service. There were unlimited bottles of water should you need them. Pool service and food was good, and daily included breakfast in the restaurant was plenty. We had to think of nothing and plan nothing during our stay. Parking is free. For water sports you have to go to the nearby Beach Club which is not far, walking distance right by the parking lot. The people here are so nice and really want you to have a good stay. The pool was quite good and deep. While most people hung around the pool, nobody really went in so we had plenty of space to ourselves. The beach was serviced all day and you didn't really have to fight for space, there were enough chairs. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. We had only 4 days and were so happy with our stay here. The beach service does need work though. After a time, they get incredibly slow to bring food and drinks. We had to wait for over an hour and went to the pool area just to get food since everything was so slow. By evening they also stop servicing and setting up the chairs. Their internet is spotty especially on the beach and some other places which I really hope they fix. We did venture out of the hotel one day for nearby attractions, and mostly went out to eat due to boredom from eating in their restaurant daily, but you could really spend all your time here and not go out at all. Limegrove mall, really beautiful but highly expensive, is a 10-minute drive. You don't need a car but I am not sure how cheap it is to get a taxi or uber. Car rental was pricey but we liked the freedom of movement and liked eating out everyday. A lot of nice restaurants are within 10 minutes driving distance. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. It is very pricey yes, but worth it. The store in the hotel is quite good and well-priced compared with Limegrove mall. However, the woman keeps telling everyone that it is locally-made which is not true if you look at labels. A lot of the stores in general here say everything is locally made but it is clearly not.

The hotel is run down, almost delapidated and is in need of modernisation. Comfortable bed and great view from room. We didn’t enjoy our stay. Apart from the room cleaners who were excellent and three particular staff members this hotel is possibly the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. And in my 77 years I’ve stayed at hundreds. • Service, slovenly • Food, mediocre • Beach good • One particular lady on reception, dreadful (through my invoice at me) On arival they take credit or debit card for authorization to cover any incidental charges during our stay. Of course the alternative option is for guests to ‘pay as they go’, certainly a lot more reliable and less open to abuse.. The y have overcharged me 3,940.08 BD and Im having difficulty getting my money back .... dreadful. And its not a staff problem, it’s a management failure. No leadership .....

We actually stated next door via Airbnb, but I have to mention these guys. The staff! They would actually be therapy! Their sincerity, smiling faces and general demeanour alone was spellbinding, but their obvious pride in the island and affection for their colleagues is a life-long memory for me. Thank you 🙏

The hotel needs total updating and appears very tired. Comfortable bed and great view from room. However, the staff was very aloof and sometimes rude. Food was very subpar and we ate out during most of our stay. Thank goodness someone told us about the Lonestar restaurant down the beach. Get the crab salad!! It was wonderful! If you get a chance, get a foot massage from Dr. Kool who operates on the beach. There is no on site spa at the hotel.

First of all my husband and I have stayed at many Fairmont locations before and so expected a lovely experience but that was not the case here at all. We had an ocean front room with deck on the first floor and the views and location right on the beach was the best part of the whole experience here. The rooms are dated: chips and paint blotches on furniture, mold in bathroom on shower stall and bath tub. Food in the restaurants was also disappointing. Breakfast was the same buffet each day with some minor changes but not very appetizing considering we had coconut chia for 10 days straight, bread that some days wasn't fresh, fruit that had such hard pieces we couldn't eat them. The Beach Grill was so bad we never returned. Service was extremely slow and again the food was poor; the salad had very little dressing on it and not much besides lettuce and a few pieces of tomato, the grilled veggie wrap consisted of big chunks of beets and one other white root vegetable and it was very bland, fries were greasy with not much flavour. The Taboras Restaurant again had very slow service even though they weren't that busy. It took 15 minutes to get a drink order, it was a one hour wait for our food with no explanation as to why things were taking so long even though the waitress had told us it would be a short wait. Food choices at this restaurant are also limited and seem to stay the same each day ( no vegan options) what we did get was fair. Room service menu and Taboras food is almost identical , so not much options there. Palm Terrace is the same menu each day also and it is only open certain days of the week. The fact that this restaurant is the same location as breakfast with mismatched chairs and tables makes it not worth the price or upscale as it is advertised. During our 10 day stay we ate lunch and dinner outside the hotel for the majority of our trip. We did have two days of windy weather and the hotel removed the floating dock and round float that was anchored in the water for people to use on the beach. Those floats were never returned for use during the last week of our holiday even though weather conditions were fine and staff said it would be returned but that never happened. By the end of our trip the only staff members who really helped make our trip a bit more comfortable where Tia at the front desk, Renico and Dawn who were butlers that really understood our issues and tried to help fix things. This hotel should not be a Fairmont and definitely not be considered a 5 star resort especially since we found the high price not worth the average experience we had at this hotel.
