Reviews for Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz

My wife and I stayed at this hotel as part of the Starguest kosher program. The hotel itself was quite a nice building and the rooms were comfortable. The wait staff at the restaurant area were very attentive and helpful. However, our stay included a very negative interaction which shone a very dubious light on the ethics of the management. We had pre-paid for our stay and our meals upon booking. When we arrived we were told that our lunch on Saturday would be an extra charge, and we questioned this. The front desk staff checked into this, and told us that it had been paid for and included after all. On Saturday morning we again checked with the front desk, and were again assured that the meal had been paid for in advance, and we were good to go. Upon checkout a few days later, we were presented with a bill of 300 CHF for the lunch. When we told the manager that we'd been assured it had been paid for in advance, she admitted that "someone" had made a mistake, but that the money was owed. We told her that if we'd known there was an extra charge, we'd not have partaken in the meal. She apologized for the "confusion," and insisted we pay...for the meal that we ate because we'd been told it was paid-for. We later received another verbal apology from another manager, but no concrete action to refund the cost. The hotel admitted that it needs to "work on its communication." No, they need to work on their ethics and acceptance of responsibility. I, unfortunately, can not recommend this hotel, nor the program. What an unfortunate way to end an interaction.

Amazing experience

Beautiful hotel . Classy . Super attention to detail. Staff is amazing a big shout out to the amazing concierge’s who helped plan every day of our trip. Room tip - front facing room and request a balcony - the front might be a little nosier but worth the view !

Pure elegance! You will feel like a king & queen while staying at this hotel. Rooms are sunny & very spacious with Mountain views. Close proximity to the lake where you can hike or walk around. We ate @ hotel restaurant for both dinner & breakfast….food was delicious!

Room with a view (on portable toilets)

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Without any shadow of doubt this has to be the WORST "5*" hotel i have ever been too. In this list we can include The Adlon in Berlin, The Shard in London, Tokyo Hotel Station, The Bristol in Paris, Raffles in Singapore, Shangri-La in Kowloon to name just a few. The driver sent to meet us in the station had no identification so we spent 20 minutes wandering around looking for him: good start ! It was proudly announced wee had an upgrade on arrival, our "upgraded" room had a view to the back of the hotel, incidentally a building site as renovations were ongoing and a nice line of 4 individual portable toilets.... God knows what the non up graded room was like, maybe that was why there were so many portable toilets available !!!! Breakfast was nice but the service was wooden as with most of the other staff, wooden, no character whatsoever apart from the concierge. Really this place is not worth the money at all, far better places to go in St. Moritz at similar prices, avoid.
