Absolutely and outstanding stay. The staff are trained very well in customer service. The room was wonderful with a view of the palace. We didn't take advantage of the spa, but it looked amazing when I toured it. Unfortunately we only had a day in Stockholm. The location is the best and if you are looking for topnotch service in a very classy and comfortable hotel, the Grand Hotel is your perfect choice.

A very pleasant stay at the Grand Hôtel Stockholm, an iconic address offering a setting that is both luxurious and authentic. The room is beautifully decorated, with high ceilings, excellent natural light, and a stunning view over the water, making the experience particularly memorable. The hotel spa is very enjoyable, featuring a heated pool, hammam, sauna, and jacuzzi, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the city. The only downside is that pool/ spa access requires advance booking and comes at an additional cost, even for hotel guests, which is disappointing for a property of this standard. Overall, a wonderful experience despite this minor drawback.

Checked in to the Grand Hotel after many years of wanting to travel to Stockholm from Australia to stay here and I wasn't disappointed. As a member of the Leading Hotels of the World it helped obtain an upgrade for the 4 nights in the outer wing of the hotel as it's made up of 3 separate buildings. We had a 2 room suite with a limited view of the water and ferries over the rear of the hotel. The suite was nicely appointed with a roomy lounge area, bathroom had a separate shower and bath with nice toileteries. Good blackout curtains and a comfortable bed apart from the pillows! I can never understand why so many hotels offer such soft or pillows like sandbags so I asked for foam pillows which were delivered. Evening turndown I had a couple of very minor quibbles about the pillows (as above) and some noise early in the mornings from the garbage collection and laundry deliveries in the nearby lane from the neighbouring hotel. I mentioned it to the staff and they promptly showed us to another room but it had no view and was a bit smaller so we stayed with the suite we had. New Year's day morning was quietier but on the morning we checked out the noise went for a couple of hours, upon mentioning on checkout the receptionist kindly wiped the drinks and one meal charges that we had at the hotel. The breakfasts in the hotel were very good although the al a carte breakfast in the bar or the restaurant next to it were far better than the buffet offerings in the verandah which at times was busy and cramped. The bar is excellent but sometimes busy with afternoon tea guests until 6:30pm. There's no denying the hotel is very expensive (especially for poor Australian dollars) and a charge of 750 swedish kroner for a swim was something you wouldn't see in Australian hotels. Mini bar works on sensors so be warned not to move any items you don't want to be charged for! Special shout to the concierge Phillip who booked a nice local restaurant, Leena in the cloak room for her friendly advice and chats and all the bell boys. Last of all Francisco the head doorman who was a great character who I visited every morning for a weather check and was very caring. I'd love to return to the Grand hotel in late summer sometime as it was very cold in Stockholm but lovely seeing the snow. Also the hotel is ideally located with shopping nearby with ferries opposite the hotel and Gamla Stan across the bridge.

I am somewhat hesitant to post a negative review, but given the seriousness of what happened, I feel it is important to share our experience in a measured way. We stayed at the hotel and dined both on site and elsewhere during our time in Stockholm. On the day I became unwell, however, all meals were at the hotel, including lunch in the restaurant and room service that evening. Later that night, I became extremely ill and was taken to hospital by ambulance, where I was given medication to stop the vomiting and had blood tests performed. Doctors advised that, based on the test results and clinical presentation, there was a very high likelihood that this was food poisoning, as there were no indicators of a gastro or viral illness. While it is not possible to say with absolute certainty that the illness originated from the hotel food, the timing and circumstances made it difficult to rule out. Unfortunately, this incident had a significant impact beyond the night itself and affected the following part of our holiday in Lapland, which was very disappointing. To be fair, there were also positives. The hotel kindly accommodated an early check in after a long flight, which we appreciated. During the medical emergency, staff were also helpful in assisting my wife and child with arrangements while I remained in hospital, which made a stressful situation easier for them. This review is not intended to assign blame without certainty, but rather to provide honest feedback on a serious experience. I hope this was an isolated incident, and that sharing it encourages continued attention to food safety and guest wellbeing.
