Great hotel. Staff is wonderful... from the restaurant staff, housekeeping, to the luggage team. Good proximity to Sultanahmet Square and Grand Bazaar.

First the positIve: The staff are all very kind and eager to help, location is good if you have no mobility issues, and the hotel is clean. Negative: Room - we had a family room and i have never had a hotel room so dark and uninviting. The white lights gave it a look of a sterile hospital - unclear why the light isn't warmer or there isn't up lighting or anything. The pictures make it look warm. The reality is the opposite. The small window onto the greenery provides virtually no natural light. We had a family room which had no bathtub and a very small bathroom relative to the room. The small room for our daughter was nice to have but was windowless. The TV is small and oddly placed on a random desk in the middle of the room and the furniture is attractive looking but not comfortable or particularly functional. Breakfast - we stayed at Grand Hyatt and the Shangri-la in Istanbul in addition to the AJWA and the breakfast at the AJWA was by far the least varied and not particularly high quality. The small buffet can be supplemented with a handful of things off the menu but they are all underwhelming. Almost every morning we ordered off the menu and it was either wrong or they forget. They were always very appologetic and well intentioned but not a five star standard.
