From arrival to departure, my recent stay at Capella Sydney was an elevated experience defined by genuine hospitality and exceptional attention to detail. The pre-arrival communication, preference sharing and thoughtful welcome immediately made me feel anticipated and cared for. Marie delivered a seamless, personalised arrival, while the Culturist team Ciara, Jonathan, Lea and Jessica set the tone beautifully in the Living Room, remembering names, acknowledging my birthday and offering thoughtful local recommendations. Housekeeping deserves special recognition, particularly April, whose handwritten note, immaculate service and thoughtful touches made my room feel brand new each day. Turndown was exceptional, from neatly organised charging cables to personalised birthday details. Chris, Phil, Asuman and Virginia also demonstrated remarkable responsiveness, anticipating requests and delivering thoughtful extras with genuine warmth. Every culinary experience was memorable. Natalia and Francisco at Brasserie 1930 made breakfast feel wonderfully personal, while Bridget remembered my love of mimosas. At McRae Bar, Arnaud introduced us to the fascinating Tarot menu, and Samson delivered attentive, effortless service. Vincent at Aperture ensured afternoon tea was inclusive and beautifully presented. The Bell Desk team added their own moments of delight, from personalised luggage details to genuine conversations and thoughtful assistance. The complimentary pressing and shoe-shine services were wonderful touches. Beyond the heritage architecture, beautifully curated art and exceptionally considered rooms, what truly distinguishes Capella Sydney is its people. The intuitive technology, locally sourced amenities, immaculate spaces and thoughtful details create a sense of effortless luxury. Capella reminded me that true luxury is not always about grandeur. Sometimes, it is a handwritten note, a remembered preference, a perfectly timed gesture or simply being addressed by name.

Marathon Tours exceeded my expectations with this pick for a hotel. I could not speak more positively about a property, staff, breakfast buffet, amenities etc. Don’t think about this hotel—book it!

My husband and I stayed just one night at Capella and we were so impressed. It is a truly stunning hotel with impeccable service. It's was the level of attentive service that makes this hotel a cut above the rest. The hotel breakfast was also incredible, guests can order anything from the a la carte menu and also access the buffet- all included in the room price. Such an indulgence! On another note, the decor and artwork within the hotel and the guest rooms is incredible. If only we could've stayed longer!

$58.65 for 2 cups of tea and an afogato last Saturday night. Ridiculous and a rip-off. They then called last drinks at 8.30pm! A huge disappointment. The food and beverage at this hotel is nowhere near what it should be. We won’t be back.

Visiting Sydney for a few days, we stayed in Capella for the first time. We have usually stayed at other top-end hotels in the past. The most outstanding feature setting it apart from others — definitely the best service I have experienced in any Australian hotel. Smooth, friendly, thoughtful, expert and fast. I really enjoyed the place - in my job, before I retired, I was often in the building when it was the Department of Education. The architects have created the rooms, bars and restaurants in an absolutely amazing way in the old place. The McRae Bar is great - named after the architect of the building, including the Sydney Town Hall and Queen Victoria Building) - the cocktails were imaginative and tasty. It’s hard to review a place that is so overall excellent at everything, as it sounds fake - so I would suggest they could improve the In-Room Dining Menu - it was a little limited and less diverse than what a hotel of this quality could offer. A small thing. I will definitely return.
