Reviews for The Fullerton Hotel Sydney

Terrible staff; very unsympathetic and unprofessional

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 22 hours ago

I had come to the Fullerton Hotel in Sydney after I had a situation with a booking during my stay in Sydney, which I was able to book a room via the booking.com app. Despite the confirmation coming in, the receptionist couldn't find it and when she pulled in the night manager, the service just went totally downhill from there. First of all, the gentleman who was "assisting" me had been nothing short of patronizing, almost speaking to me like I was some college kid, and even made totally unnecessary remarks like "guess this isn't your night" when my situation was in fact that I was without a hotel room at 1 AM, essentially leaving me homeless. So instead of even trying to provide alternatives or suggestions, other than "trying the Radisson", he basically kept hounding me to reach out to booking.com to see if I can cancel my booking from there. Guess what followed after? He proceeded to lecture me about this too, how it was through a third party and that booking.com had no right to refuse the cancellation (which for the record, customer support had confirmed that this was through the Sydney Hotel Group, not booking.com; deflecting the blame does not help). He even lectured how the confirmation number from the app wasn't possibly correct because it was "too long". For a hotel that prides itself of being a jewel in Sydney, it sure has a taint in its gleam.

Beautful old hotel

Stayed here for 1 night to see a show at the theatre royal. Only a 5 min walk around the corner. Excellent accommodation and friendly staff. The old entry foyer and original GPO building were very grand. Great location for shopping and bars/eateries. Will definitely stay here again.

Good

Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. However, the breakfast was very disappointing. The food quality didn’t match the 5-star standard, and the staff weren’t very professional during breakfast service. I hope the hotel can improve this part because everything else was lovely.

Fun and history

My sister and I stayed in a heritage room in the Fullerton and absolutely loved our time there for a girls weekend away. With our package we had a gift and cake on arrival, breakfast included, a high tea and a historical tour of the building. We couldn’t recommend the hotel highly enough! It is close to the centre with all the shopping around you, whilst also close to restaurants with us enjoying dinner in a pub in The Rocks on the first night and 5 star dining on the second. The hotel was welcoming, the beds comfortable and the facilities wonderful. The historical tour of the building made us even more in awe of the building and understanding its development and history. Truly a wonderful stay.
