My Australian friends and I had the Asian Buffet at THE PLACE on Friday 24th JULY, however, when we invited our friends, I did mention I was a bit apprehensive about such buffets but they did not mind as they like Malaysian/Singaporean foods In a nutshell, it was the most disappointing experience for all of us as most of the FOODS were served COLD, : other than the LAKSA, the rest of the Asian foods were sub-standard especially: : when there was no ketupat with Satay and the Satay was hopeless : Hainanese Chicken Rice, I can do a better job of it : Char Kueh Teow was as if the CHEF could not careless about serving a proper dish : Ponteh was pathetic too : luckily we enjoyed the Rojak as the sambal Kangkong was too PEDAS : Desserts were also sub-standard even the Pandan and Taro ice cream what made up for it were the nice Lamingtons and Creme Brulee and selection of Cheeses which are not Asian Table service was poor, I had to ask for the table to be cleared between serves and the THE PLACE was only 20% filled. At $69.95 per head, it was not worth the effort nor experience.... we should have eaten at PASAR TANI for Abang Sam's Satay which is the best in Sydney or Andrew's The Local Cafe for their best Char Kueh Teow and would have had a much much better experience at a fraction of the costs!!!! Lastly, when I paid the bill, as they would not accept CASH, Andrew said there was a Surcharge of 1.85% for all Credit Cards and was informed if I had a DEBIT Card, there was NO SURCHARGE, however, I was misinformed as there was a 0.9% charge... how can this be???? It is annoying as they do not even know their billing system.

Despite my business booking a Superior Room, I was placed in a remarkably stuffy room in the hotel’s older wing that left me ill with mould-like symptoms on my very first day. When I requested a move to the newer section, the front desk staff were entirely unhelpful and refused to liaise with my corporate agent. Instead, they demanded an extra fee to move me and subsequently made an unauthorised charge of over $250 to my personal credit card. Substandard accommodation paired with fundamentally unacceptable customer service. I strongly advise booking elsewhere.
