Reviews for Hilton Sydney

Great hotel and location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

A business hotel - very efficient check in and helpful concierge who helped us with directions when we asked. Conveniently located right next to QVB tram station which takes you to circular quay (for Sydney opera house). You can also get the t8 train from town hall to the airport (a 5 min walk). We didn’t have breakfast as we were up and about early. Unusually, we didn’t use the pool, but the room was really nice - comfy bed, decent sleep and good amenities- milk, tea/coffee, shower gel etc. There is a Marble bar which we went to one night where they had live music, and we got their spring rolls, which were tasty. We never heard the bar in the hotel so shouldn’t disturb sleep. It was art deco in style and worth popping in for a drink. Would definitely recommend the hotel to stay, especially based on location.

Solid but not perfect

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is pretty much our go to stay in Sydbey as the location is just perfect for what we tend to do in town - opposite the Queen Victoria Building, a block from Town Hall train station, a block from Westfield and lots of shops, close to Hyde Park and the art gallery about 10 minutes walk away. It's a solid hotel and certainly popular, and should have everything you need for a good stay. We stayed in a King corner room, which had great views of the QVB and everything we needed really. Some things do need updating though - the bed sunk a bit on the left side, the aircon was tricky to control and the shower made a loud noise when switching shower heads. Not the end of the world but we've seen the Hilton at its peak and this sadly wasn't it but it was fine. Staff were super helpful across the board. Special shout out to the middle-aged cleaning lady who, when asked if we could have more sugar for the room as making two coffees cleaned us out, generally decked us out with a handful of coffee abd sugar sachets. Much appreciated. Breakfast was included in our rate, and historically the Hilton breakfast had always been a highlight. Don't get me wrong, it was still good but they made a few changes since our last stay that may make things more efficient for the hospitality staff but not so sure they improve the customer experience. For example, the egg station is now well removed from other hot food options do you may get sausages and hash browns in one spot, but if you want to add an omelet you have to go to the other side of the dining room. Similar with coffee, staff used to bring standard coggrr to your table in the past, now it is tucked away in a corner to make your own coffee. Not a big deal of course as long as you know where to look. Interestingly there seemed to be no coffee spoons about except if you ordered a specialty coffee (not included in the buffet). While the staff were all friendly, in the last 30 minutes of breakfast, some of them were super focused on making sure things ran on time, meaning you may feel a bit rushed at times. There also seemed to be some work being done on the hotel lifts while we were there. Usually there are 6 lifts but at times only one or two seemed to be working and at times there was quite a wait for the lift. Again, these weren't a massive deal, just some small imperfections that could have turned this from a good stay into a great one.

A Masterclass in Customer Experience – Hilton Sydney’s Human Touch

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I recently stayed at Hilton Sydney with my wife and two children (ages 8 and 13) while visiting the city. This year marks Hilton Sydney’s 50th anniversary, and our experience was a testament to the brand’s enduring commitment to excellence—especially through the service of Danielle at the front desk. We had booked a twin room with plans to add an extra bed for our teenager, but the room size made that unfeasible. While initially disappointed, I was quickly reassured by Danielle’s warmth and professionalism. Despite the busy weekend check-in crowd, she took the time to listen, offered multiple solutions, and recognised my 10+ years as a Diamond member. She even reminded me of the hotel credits available through my Amex Centurion booking—something I had overlooked. Due to high occupancy, the suite upgrade wasn’t available immediately, but Danielle arranged a room change on the third day. She promised a smooth transition: pack up, enjoy the day, and return to a new room with our luggage already transferred. I was skeptical, especially since she wouldn’t be working that day—but her notes and coordination made it flawless. As someone who teaches brand relationship and emotional connection in marketing, I often reference Susan Fournier’s Brand Relationship Theory, which emphasises that brands are not just transactional entities but relationship partners. Danielle’s empathy, recognition, and proactive care exemplify this theory in practice. She didn’t just solve a problem—she deepened my emotional loyalty to Hilton. In an age where AI and automation dominate marketing conversations, this experience reminds us that nothing replaces the human touch. Danielle’s service was not only memorable—it was meaningful. Kudos to Hilton Sydney’s leadership for fostering such a culture of excellence.

Top Service

The Hilton coffee shop is one of my favourite places to find a quiet retreat in the city. Hats off this visit to friendly, professional service by Duygu.

Wonderful staff but the new Executive Lounge is a step backwards

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Great location – very central to the shops and trams. Reception service was friendly and efficient. We did ask for a room close to the lifts and were allocated an accessible room (which was 2 rooms away). Reception did make us aware the lifts could be noisy and they were at peak hours. Unfortunately, the TV remote did not work properly and the room lights weren't easy to work out. We couldn't get the bedside or reading lights to turn on without the main room lights being on. After we turned all the lights off, the reading light above the bed flicked brightly off and on sporadically – we eventually managed to get it to turn off. Small bottles of water are free for Hilton Honor members except for blue members and non-members where they were $4 ea! The new Executive Lounge is now on Level 1 and not the same level as the Executive rooms. We feel the new Exec Lounge is a step backwards in terms of view and size as it is quite small with limited capacity. There were no seats available at 6pm and it closed at 7pm. Selection of the evening drinks, nibbles and breakfast were adequate although there was no bottled water. Staff were friendly and helpful especially the porters who stored our luggage after we checked out.
