Pretty hotel shocking management

This is a hotel that has a great location, but the service is woeful. The general number rings with no answer the hours are unpredictable. its all a bit odd really.

A unique hotel set on a historic pier with bold interior design. Spacious rooms and water views make the stay feel special and memorable.

Wonderful stay at Ovolo Woolloomooloo

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We had a very pleasant stay at Ovolo Woolloomooloo and would happily give it a 5-star rating. The food and coffee were delicious, with a great assortment at breakfast, including a beetroot shot, for energy! The staff were genuinely accommodating — even arranging a burger for us outside of normal hours, which was much appreciated and also delicious. Our room was excellent: modern, very comfortable, and still cozy. We were kindly upgraded to a more spacious room, which made the stay even more special. Everything felt thoughtfully designed and high quality. The only small improvement could be better blackout curtains, as early morning light does come through, but this was definitely not a deal breaker. The waterfront setting is beautiful and perfect for morning walks. Overall, a great experience, and we will definitely stay here again.

Disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This was my first time in Sydney, — the overall stay was disappointing. The room looked great at first, but the bed sheets had hair all over them. I only noticed properly in the morning when the light was better, and it was quite unpleasant. On top of that, there was a small bug in the shower on the day I checked in. I removed it myself and didn’t complain at the time, but it wasn’t a great first impression. The last issue happened on my last day: the hot water stopped working. I couldn’t take a proper hot shower before checking out, which really affected the stay. Even though the staff were genuinely lovely, the cleanliness issues and the hot water problem made the experience far from what I expected — especially for a hotel in this price range. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it based on this stay.

Old and ragged.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

From the first step in…the hotel is old and ragged. Carpets have been around for 20+ years. Looking around at the reception area there are extension cords and random items all around the area. As a first impression it looks ragged, disorganized and not a place I want to stay and my first impression was correct. We were upgraded at checkin to a loft room. The main floor of the room had these yellow couches that seemed dirty, as did the room carpet. Old and ragged. The three positives - bed was comfortable, there was onsite laundry and all staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. The location (for us) was not good - that is our fault for assuming there would be more around but walk 10 to 15 mins and you’ll get a more lively place. I am surprised this is categories as a SLH Hotel. There are better options around.
