Reviews for W Sydney

W Sydney is worth visiting for at least one! WHATEVER

Of course I am concerned on the large amount of not so good reviews on W Sydney before my arrival. Thankfully, with the great W team on replying to emails promptly and the friendly reception by Welcome Duty Manager Johan have make a Wonderful stay for my trip. The bellboys are proactive and will take care of your luggage and deliver to your room right after you check in. The housekeeping team are on point too, they start at 9am and will refresh your rooms every day. And provide any extra amenities on request too. At the breakfast table, the queue moves pretty fast, and it is not as bad as what I have read from other reviews. I was at the breakfast area at 9.20am and 9.30am and 8am on 3 different days, not much queues. But I did observe long queues after 10ish in the morning towards breakfast closing time. The amount of manpower to clean and clear the tables is tight, so probably better to have breakfast earlier. I did get upset on one occasion because of noise issues. My next door neighbour was having noise issues from midnight till 2am ish on a Sunday. The security came fast when I called in at 2am and again at 2.20am. I saw 8 persons leaving the room for a harbourview king room which was 35 sqm. So for sure, there is overcrowding in the guestrooms at W Sydney and I quote what I have heard from one of the Duty Manager, Davide that “W is a brand which welcome parties”. I agree with the statement but definitely not at 2am+ in hotel guest room. In any case, Davide has followed up and rectified the issue. He also confirmed that the noisy guest has checked out. At the front desk, Dominic has been very helpful and settle my bill so that I can check out at the express check out easily. W Sydney has a small lobby and not the best at clearing long queues during peak period. There are too many hotels around the CBD areas. For me W Sydney is worth visiting for at least one time. WHATEVER!

Unfriendly and unwelcoming

Stayed for a friends 40th. Room not available for check in until 3.30, despite check in at 3pm. Came back for drinks at the bar on level 29 and treated like lepers by Steve and Shaquib - dressed for our friends party as ‘what you want to be when you grow up’ - our whole group was asked to leave for ‘rsa’ despite not being actually drunk?, then told by the manager was due to dress code (wearing a hat but not being asked to remove said hat). Terrible experience, unlikely to stay again.

My experience visiting Away Spa as a non hotel guest was exceptional. I was greeted by Holly and Justine, and the moment I walked in I knew I was going to have an incredible experience. My therapist Dorcas lead me through to the treatment room. I had a 90-minute de-stress massage and it was amazing. Honestly it was probably one of the best massage treatments I’ve ever had.

Great Location, Great Venue, But

Listen, to be honest, work paid for this one as it was close to our office location in Barangaroo and I had no real idea on hotels in the Harbour in Sydney as I hadn't been in for about 5 yrs for. work ... the location was great, the venue reallty really nice .. a few traps, like being told breakfast is on x floor at x o'clock, but not finding out that breakfast was $55 for example ... so just be wary of the costs, and do NOT touch the mini bar unless you want to pay $18 for a bag of chips etc for example ...

The whole massage experience was magnificent… the facilities are impeccable; the therapists are excellent and totally worth the expense!
