Rising over Darling Harbour, W Sydney instantly captures the eye with the undulating lines of its futuristic exterior and striking interiors that pay homage to the hotel’s NSW locale. Daring and original, a sleek retreat where bold design meets the larrikin spirit, seamlessly melding Sydney and Australia’s cultural touchstones to create an all-encompassing dining and social destination. The Darling Harbour hotel transforms as day turns to night, from the evocative future-noir allure of the Living Room bar and kinetic energy of BTWN restaurant to AWAY Spa, a refreshing sanctuary amid its concrete city surrounds, and the panoramic harbor views from WET Deck and double story rooftop bar, 29/30. Within each of W Sydney’s guest rooms, suites, and studios, marine chic design interiors channel the hotel’s harbourside location and Sydney’s stunning coastlines. W Sydney is ahead of the curve, making room for renegades to eat, drink, play, and stay in inimitable style.

Absolutely loved my experience at AWAY Spa at W Sydney. The space is stunning, the staff were great, and the couples massage was exceptional and deeply relaxing. One of the best spa experiences I’ve had in Sydney!

My massage was just okay. Definitely not worth the price. The amenities were nice. You get one hour access to the pool, sauna and steam room before your massage. However, by the time they explain everything to you there isn’t much time to use them before your massage. I chose the pool on the 29th floor and there were so many noisy kids up there. It was not a relaxing experience. My main concern was my 90 min massage. After a 15 hr flight, I was really looking forward to it. It didn’t do what needed to be done. I think I’m going to book another massage somewhere else. The pressure was too light. Even when I asked for more pressure, she said she would try her best. Nothing changed. So, if you want a great clean atmosphere, this place is cool. But that’s about it.

The W Sydney makes a strong first impression, especially when it comes to the rooms. I stayed in the Penthouse 2 WOW suite and it was fantastic -- spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully designed with great views and all the comfort you'd expect from a luxury hotel. The room itself easily felt five-star and made the stay feel special. The property has a sleek, modern vibe and is well located in Woolloomooloo, making it convenient while still feeling a bit removed from the busiest parts of the city. The common areas are polished and visually impressive, and the overall atmosphere feels upscale and energetic. Where the experience fell short was service consistency. While some staff were friendly and professional, others didn't quite deliver the level of attentiveness you'd expect from a five-star hotel. A few interactions felt rushed or indifferent, which took away from what was otherwise a very strong stay. Overall, the excellent suite and beautiful property carry this hotel to a solid four stars. With more consistent, refined service across the board, the W Sydney could easily live up to its luxury reputation.

I recently stayed at the W Sydney Darling Harbour and wanted to offer a balanced perspective, as some of the reviews I read beforehand felt more critical than my experience warranted. Overall, this is a very well run property in an excellent location. The hotel sits right on Darling Harbour, with beautiful water views and an easy, pleasant walk to most of what you’d want to see, eat, or do in the area. It’s also surrounded by several great cafés with excellent coffee, which is always a plus. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and well designed. They were impressively quiet, which made it easy to relax and unwind despite the hotel being a popular destination. The décor is very W in style, hip, dark, and contemporary. That aesthetic won’t be for everyone, but it’s exactly what I expected from the brand and felt intentional rather than overdone. Breakfast was a standout. Yes, it can get busy, but arriving a bit earlier makes a big difference. The quality and variety were excellent and well worth it. I do want to specifically highlight the Marriott Bonvoy experience. I have Marriott status and was treated exceptionally well, including a room upgrade, complimentary breakfast, and thoughtful outreach both before and during my stay from a loyalty ambassador checking in to see if I needed anything and whether expectations were being met. That level of attention made the stay feel genuinely welcoming rather than transactional. The hotel is clearly popular, so you should expect families and excited kids in common areas. That energy never detracted from the experience, and the rooms themselves remained calm and peaceful. The high floor bar is also worth a visit. It’s a fantastic place to sit with a drink and take in the evening views over Sydney and Darling Harbour, and a great way to end the day. In short, this is a vibrant, well located hotel that delivers exactly what the W brand promises. If you come in with the right expectations, it’s an excellent choice for a Sydney stay.
