We’re family-owned and our passion shows. Cala Luna is one of the only hotels in Guanacaste, Costa Rica that remains green all year round. There are few barriers between us and nature. Open-plan spaces and secluded accommodations meld into the lush jungle that attracts more wildlife than anywhere else in the area – monkeys, raccoons, iguanas, birds, insects, and us. Within this natural retreat, we offer five-star barefoot luxury that’s open to everyone. We nourish our senses daily through delicious home-grown ingredients, gastronomic farm-to-table dinners, holistic wellness, spa therapies, and deep connection to Mother Earth. From dining with us at our homestead La Senda and walking the world’s largest labyrinth, to sipping cocktails on the beach as the sun slips over the edge of the ocean – you choose the memories to carry home. Welcome to an unforgettable experience.

This spot is such a vibe. My wife and I felt like we were dropped into a set on White Lotus. It's far enough that its quite but close enough to hire a golf cart or take a nice walk into Tamarindo. You might also check in and never leave. While it lacked soft sand, the adjacent beach is deserted with rocky outcrops and beautiful tide pools. A nice respite from the overcrowded main beach and it's constant intrusion by merchants selling frog whistles. Stay by the pool, grab a signature cocktail and play with the cats Cala and Luna while waiting for the troop of Howler Monkeys to traverse the rooftops in the afternoon. We loved it.

My family (husband, kids ages 11 and 9, and grandparents) recently stayed in a 3 bedroom Villa at Cala Luna and found the property to be beautiful, with a relaxing atmosphere, excellent food, and a friendly staff. The setting is lovely, sound baths are amazing, and we enjoyed the location being a bit removed from Tamarindo. Unfortunately, our stay included an issue that was concerning. While we were out on a tour, several items went missing from our room, including a cell phone, a small jewelry box with my daughter’s belongings, and clothing. These items were in the room when we left and were missing when we returned. We understand that incidents can happen while traveling, however this was an expensive property and one of the reasons we chose it was because it appeared to offer a higher level of security and peace of mind. For that reason, this experience was particularly disappointing. We did report the situation to the hotel, the staff expressed their sincere apologies and said they would follow up after reviewing room access logs and cameras. Overall, the property itself is very nice, but we would encourage future guests to take extra care with any valuables, and don't bring any item, including clothes that you wouldn't mind going missing. Unfortunately these things happen even at nice resorts.

I cannot say enough about this beautiful property! Everything was wonderful .. the staff, room, food, activities (yoga & sound baths), pool, beach, town .. everything! I will be back again soon 😊

We loved our stay at Cala Luna. The villas are absolutely knockout — spacious, beautiful, and perfectly designed for a relaxing family stay. The overall experience felt very well balanced: peaceful without being boring, and luxurious without feeling overdone. The wellness offerings were a highlight. The massages were some of the best I’ve ever had, the free sound bath was genuinely delightful, and the free yoga sessions were excellent and grounding. One helpful note for future travelers: the beach is rocky, so it’s not ideal for surfing or long swims, but it’s actually perfect for little kids, tide pool exploring, and a refreshing plunge. The setting feels safe, calm, and very connected to nature. Between the thoughtful service, serene atmosphere, and incredible villas, this was a place we’d happily return to after an unforgettable Costa Rica trip.

Cala Luna was certainly a 5 star experience that started well before we arrived. I worked with David via text before hand and at the hotel to coordinate all of our needs. He helped to set up our transportation to and from the hotel. He helped to set up surfing lessons that were outstanding, along with many other world class touches. But the entire staff was so genuine and helpful, everyone was fantastic. This was certainly a treat for my wife and I to experience, and I am thankful she found Cala Luna. The hotel was stunning, being right in the beautiful lush jungle. Our suite was perfect and was attended to expertly by the cleaning staff. Having breakfast included was terrific and their dinner at Origen was superb. Such a relaxing atmosphere lounging in the pool, and steps from a secluded beach for sunset happy hour. The whole area is quiet yet walking distance to very nice restaurants and shops. Having complimentary bikes on site made it so easy to commute to Tamarindo for all the activities we experienced there. Also having cats who are permanent guests, along with other beautiful wildlife like seeing Monkeys in the trees was such a great experience. My wife and I could not have been happier with our stay. The entire staff was world class and it was certainly a visit we will never forget. Thank you Cala Luna!
