We’re family-owned and our passion shows. Cala Luna is one of the only hotels in Guanacaste, Costa Rica that remains green all year round. There are few barriers between us and nature. Open-plan spaces and secluded accommodations meld into the lush jungle that attracts more wildlife than anywhere else in the area – monkeys, raccoons, iguanas, birds, insects, and us. Within this natural retreat, we offer five-star barefoot luxury that’s open to everyone. We nourish our senses daily through delicious home-grown ingredients, gastronomic farm-to-table dinners, holistic wellness, spa therapies, and deep connection to Mother Earth. From dining with us at our homestead La Senda and walking the world’s largest labyrinth, to sipping cocktails on the beach as the sun slips over the edge of the ocean – you choose the memories to carry home. Welcome to an unforgettable experience.

We stayed here for four nights over Christmas in a two bedroom villa with our two teenagers. The villa was large and comfortable, although the living area is very dark - you need lights on even in the middle of the day (skylights would have helped). The grounds of the property are beautiful and we enjoyed the privacy of the Langosta beach compared to Tamarindo. It is easy to get into town with a golf car, rental car or the hotel's loaner bikes. The best part of the resort is the attentive staff (and the restaurant, which is truly delicious). The concierge even contacted us ahead of time and made restaurant recommendations and reservations for us in town, which was very appreciated and helpful, especially during the busy holiday season. One morning we had an early departure for a snorkeling excursion before the restaurant opened and they prepared to-go breakfast for us to take along. Unfortunately, we just did not love Tamarindo itself, so I do not believe we will be returning, but if you are planning to go to Tamarindo/Langosta, this is a wonderful and luxurious home base. I do have two suggestions for improvement. One- the water in the showers was never hot. On our first night, it was lukewarm at best. After we complained, it did seem to get a little warmer, but it was never actually hot for our entire stay. Two- the abundance of mosquitoes on the property made our private terrace and pool virtually unusable. I understand that to some extent this is out of the hotel's control, but we traveled to several locations in Costa Rica during our trip, and did not experience mosquitoes like this anywhere else.

My partner and I went to the Cala Luna restaurant last night and really enjoyed the meal. We shared a couple of excellent appetizers and both enjoyed main courses — everything we had tasted great. Our server, Karla was very knowledgeable and did a nice job walking us through the menu without rushing us. She was warm and attentive throughout the evening and honestly made the experience even better. If ever in Tamarindo CR it’s definitely a must..

We just spent a week at Cala Luna. It was our third time staying at the resort in four years. This place just gets better and better. We were there to celebrate my daughter‘s birthday and they decorated her room, made a special cake for her, and accommodated (and went above and beyond!) all our requests and needs. To all the restaurant staff, housekeeping staff, front desk, concierge and management - THANK YOU, for always making Cala Luna our favorite place and for making our daughters’s 16th birthday extra memorable.

Excellent hotel, very clean and the staff are amazing, brilliant location for surfing and all things Tamarindo! Just make sure if you are full board, no drinks are included, the staff get very confused by the packages on offer!

Beautiful lush property with great staff that are friendly and professional. Rooms were well appointed and quiet. Pool was comfortable temperature. Beach is nice but not swim able. Restaurant was good. Breakfast was excellent and included. My family of 13 all would go again.
