We’re family-owned and our passion shows. Cala Luna is one of the only hotels in Guanacaste, Costa Rica that remains green all year round. There are few barriers between us and nature. Open-plan spaces and secluded accommodations meld into the lush jungle that attracts more wildlife than anywhere else in the area – monkeys, raccoons, iguanas, birds, insects, and us. Within this natural retreat, we offer five-star barefoot luxury that’s open to everyone. We nourish our senses daily through delicious home-grown ingredients, gastronomic farm-to-table dinners, holistic wellness, spa therapies, and deep connection to Mother Earth. From dining with us at our homestead La Senda and walking the world’s largest labyrinth, to sipping cocktails on the beach as the sun slips over the edge of the ocean – you choose the memories to carry home. Welcome to an unforgettable experience.

What a five star experience at the gorgeous Cala Luna. Every staff member has been so warm and welcoming. They even decorated our room and brought a delicious dessert for our daughter’s birthday. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with just a short walk through the lush forest to beach. You can even walk along the beach at low tide to Tamarindo. The massage was the most relaxing one I’ve ever experienced and they offer complimentary wellness experiences like yoga and a sound bath. The morning buffet has a bit of everything - it fills a table the length of the restaurant. And the fresh organic salads and menu items are divine. We enjoyed the complimentary bikes and also had a great experience booking our tours and golf cart through the front desk. Nicole, Johnny and all the staff made our stay a fabulous one we will never forget!

We stayed there for 4 days. The place is beautiful and quite and has a great swimming pool. The restaurant is great, dinner opportunities were offered under the excellent recommandation of Henry :) The rooms are small, dark and beds are old with old-fashion matrass which made our sleep quality horrible.

My experience at the Cala Luna has been nothing short of a perfect experience.. the grounds are impeccably kept, a well thought out boutique hotel with just enough of everything, a wonderful outdoor yoga/fitness studio, pristine & quant beach exposure, & wonderful service from Johnny at the front desk to Henry & Maru at the meals. Did I mention how incredible the Michelin level meals were? I’ll definitely be coming back next time I visit Costa Rica!!

I don't even know where to start with reviewing Cala Luna... what an incredible place, staff, beach, location, everything! I just had my wedding here with about 95 guests and the planning team of Carol & Silvia were an absolute DREAM TEAM! I knew next to nothing about planning a wedding, and somehow, they helped us plan a wedding beyond our wildest dreams and expectations. We planned everything in 6 months, and it was the easiest & smoothest planning process I have ever seen or witnessed of a wedding, especially one where you're bringing 95 people to Costa Rica from all different places. The team handled so many logistics that made the entire experience so enjoyable for us and all of our guests, and blew all of our expectations out of the water in terms of the design, the food, & the scheduling & coordination of the day. The hotel grounds give you the best of both worlds of Costa Rica, where the beautiful beach & forest feel with wildlife collide. The hotel is absolutely stunning & serene to walk through, the rooms are beautiful, clean, and provide an incredible sense of privacy, the farm to table food was all amazing & fresh, the drinks NEVER missed, the beach that you access from the hotel is one of the most stunning spots in Costa Rica that I've been to watch the sunset (& to get married ;)), and is close enough to everything in town via walking, biking, or driving a golf cart, while still being enough distance away to really feel the sense of a relaxing & serene vacation. Part of the reason we've always loved Costa Rica is because the people are so incredible & kind, and the entire Cala Luna staff was no different. They provided us & our guests with the best service in every category. Truly one of the dreamiest hotels & stays I've ever experienced, and on top of which, they gave us the most special, beautiful wedding that we will remember and reminisce on for the rest of our lives. We can't wait to come back and continue creating memories here in the future, and we will be forever grateful to Cala Luna hotel & staff, Carol, Silvia, Chef Gian Carlo and Chef Ignacio, and the restaurant manager Sofia for curating the wedding and experience of a lifetime.
