Fairmont Tazi Palace

We stayed for a week in the Junior Suite with Panoramic View (US$580 per night). Although we had problems with the lighting and the air conditioning, we enjoyed our stay. The suite had been personalized for us and flowers, fruit, nuts, dates, and Moroccan sweets had been left for us (and renewed during our stay). Khaoula from housekeeping was personable, professional, and extremely helpful setting up the suite, as well as during our stay. We had an entry hall and enough space for desks for both of us. Honestly, however, the 69m² suite felt cramped. We loved having two toilets and a large shower (that unfortunately leaked onto the floor outside it). We did not like the freestanding cylindrical washbasins at all. Without a vanity counter, there was not enough space for all of our toiletries—even with the tall table between the two washbasins. A second table was brought for us but we didn't like the arrangement. Daily and evening housekeeping did a good job. The lighting in the room was not bright enough for us but there were no additional pedestal lamps available so we made do. One huge problem was with the “on/off light switch” for the lighting in the suite. The bedside light switch turned all lights off—including the lights in the toilet rooms. If one person wanted a nap, the lights in the salon would be turned off if the bedside lights were turned off. Awful for us (and the hotel’s technician told us that was not how it worked). The air conditioning system did not work for us either. We set the temperature to 28° and the actual temperature was 22°--no matter what. Again, the hotel’s technician told us that was not how the air conditioning system worked. Regardless of what the technician said, the only way we could control the temperature in the suite was to turn off the air conditioning completely. We didn’t appreciate the panoramic view from our suite during September because it was hazy the whole time we were there. Having a balcony was nice but it was often too windy to sit outside. All of the staff at breakfast were incredibly helpful and friendly. It was a pleasure to go to breakfast. We told the staff that we liked fresh figs and each day we were brought fresh figs! There was mango on the buffet (which we love) too. The kitchen made us porridge, especially, so we could alternate and we didn’t have to have eggs every day. Dimitri needed some tailoring services and Khaoula arranged for the Fairmont tailor to come to our suite. He did a great job on Dimitri’s clothes. We didn’t drive our car in Tangiers; we left it in the hotel’s garage and we took Ubers. The front drive staff was helpful and, when we returned, always gave us big and friendly welcomes. The location of the hotel is far from the medina so our taxi rides were long. But the location is very quiet and peaceful, with its private forest. The fitness/gym for us was okay with the bikes and treadmills. We like to have strength training machines but the Precor universal was okay. Dimitri and I looked at the Signature Suite One Bedroom and decided that for our second stay in November, we wanted to book that suite instead of the junior suite. Othmane, the Front Office Manager, was incredibly helpful and offered us a price for that suite that we accepted. We think that our November stay will be more comfortable.

Yaakoub & najim are excellent and very friendly! Love this CRUDO Crews! Definitely will comeback to Fairmont Tazi Palace! Did I mention the bar- great bar!!

I’m sure I didn’t cover them all. :)))

Excellent service and beautiful hotel/palace. Merwan AlJibali our waiter at the Social Kitchen was excellent and amazing. His patience and hospitality are exceptional! He made our family enjoy authentic Moroccan food with a wonderful smile! Thank you Merwan for an excellent service!

Among the best hotels I've stayed in everything was good the reception staff were very helpful the room was wonderful, the breakfast was amazing and Tangier is enchanting Thank you and thank you, Muhammad for your help I haven't left the hotel yet but I will return again
