About the Hotel

Sabah’s House, a luxurious and stylish Riad Boutique is the only 5* hotel set in the heart of Tangier’s exotic Kasbah. The house has been built along Art Deco lines and the detail of the interior design focuses on a private collection of paintings, artwork and the tools and products of Moroccan craftsmanship. The owners successfully achieve an authentic, sensuous Moroccan “feel”, embracing old and new. There are 6 suites, all named after, and designed around, world-famous individuals who have at one time or another been closely associated with Tangier and their lives and their connections with Tangier are well documented – Malcolm Forbes, Barbara Hutton, Ibn Battouta, Liz Taylor, Mick Jagger and Antoni Gaudi.

Reviews for Saba's House - Ryad Dar Saba

An oasis of warmth, beauty and calm in the Tangiers Medina

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We recently returned from 4 wonderful days at Saba's House within the Tangiers Medina and next to the Kasbah. It is a beautiful house with stylish and comfortable bedrooms and reception areas all stunningly designed and furnished by Roya Lamal, the owner. This personal touch is reinforced by Jawat and his team who are endlessly helpful with their suggestions and practical support with restaurants, guided trips and outings. Thanks to them for ensuring that we had a wonderful time. We loved the delicious breakfasts on the rooftop terrace overlooking the bay of Tangiers towards the straits of Gibraltar. Many thanks to Roya, Jawat and the whole Saba team for their professionalism and warmth in creating an oasis of beauty and calm. Highly recommended.

Terrific Location, Quirky Design, Fab Staff

An excellent stay, Saba’s House is a great place to base yourself for exploring Tangier. It is walkable to literally everywhere of interest, you’re in the midst of the medina, with the Kasbah just a few steps away. Staff are wonderful, very genuine and caring, and the chic and lovely lady owner is clearly blessed with much creative flair. In contrast to typical Moroccan styling, this riad rocks a bolder, quirkier look, utilising a riot of contrasting but tasteful colour and contemporary art. The 6 rooms are themed - each dedicated to a notorious character linked in some way to Tangier. I opted for ‘Mick Jagger’, a bright, playfully decorated room, with various nods to the namesake. It is one of the more compact rooms, but plentifully spacious in my view. And everything worked well - good WiFi, powerful shower, comfy bed, ample electrical points. I really appreciated the ability to have bright lighting when required too. Ambient lighting is all very nice, but not ideal for applying makeup, etc. As with many riads, my room overlooked an internal courtyard, but thanks to the large atrium which tops the house, natural illumination does flood in. A further bonus of the hotel is the fabulous rooftop, which boasts wraparound city views, alongside stylish furnishings. Breakfast and drinks can be taken here. A great choice.

Amazing, wonderful, one of a kind

Brilliant location in the middle of the Kasbah, small (6 rooms) Riad, exemplary service from the staff, excellent breakfast on the roof terrace. The most extraordinary thing is the style and decoration of the hotel, clearly done by someone with a fantastic eye. But be warned; if what you are looking for is a "beige" modern steel and glass place with huge rooms, this is not for you. Otherwise, it is amazing

Incredible Experience

This hotel is incredibly beautiful…almost equal to the beautiful staff we met at Riad Dar Saba. They all were so very kind and helpful. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. Thank you to Sufian, Jawad and the rest of the staff for making our stay so great. We highly recommend.

A refined Riad, with very kind and professional service.

Dar Saba is located in a prime spot in the Tangier medina, away from the souqs. It’s a refined riad, with very kind and professional service. A charming bar is the highlight of the reception room, which also features cozy nooks with armchairs. The room decor pays homage to famous foreigners who loved Tangier. It may not appeal to more sophisticated tastes, but it is well executed for what it intends to be. We stayed in the Gaudí room—very small, but well equipped, comfortable, and functional. The shower is wonderful. The Moroccan-style breakfast is excellent and served on a terrace with a spectacular view of the city marina and the Strait of Gibraltar. In the distance, you can see Spain.
