Reviews for Metropole Taormina Maison d'Hotes

A great choice.

We stumbled on the Metropole by chance and luck and checked in immediately. The hotel is beautifully situated, centrally located and yet shielded from hustle and bustle, with stunning views of the bay. Staff was extremely attentive, welcoming and professional with special mention to concierges Irene and Ambra as well as tour and event planner/guide Maria, who helped us get situated and on our way around town and surroundings. We were fortunate to dine in the hotel restaurant, aptly named Bellevue, which was an unforgettable experience with Luca and his team managing guests with knowledge, charm and pride in their work. Our meal was a creative tour de force around Sicilian culinary art and history. Don’t miss it. Our two-level room was spacious, clean and airy, also with spectacular views, if a bit sparsely decorated. Some wall decorations/artwork would have added to the experience. All in all, a great experience.

Perfection.

Another perfect stay at the Metropole, we have stayed a number of times and it just gets better and better each stay. The hotel is well situated in the center of town, walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Check in is really smooth, as we arrived early we were offered breakfast on the terrace. Breakfast is very good, with freshly prepared international buffet. Typical Sicilian treats also cereals, fruit, cakes, yoghurt, ham and cheese, and choice of coffee or teas. The rooms are bright clean and spacious. Towels changed twice a day. The AC works really well. The terrace bar has an amazing view of the coast and Ionian sea. Appetizers are offered with drinks. Special thanks to Carlo and Giacomo for making our afternoons and evenings really special. The pool is fantastic, water crystal clean. Ample sunbeds and towels. The Bellevue restaurant, ultimate place in Taormina for a romantic dinner, the view at night is spectacular . Luca and his team ensured through their suggestions on food and wine that it was perfect. There are good choice on the menu also some off menu choices of the day. The only downside is having to leave. Thanks to everyone at Metropole for making our three day stay so relaxing and unforgettable. With a special thanks to Giuseppina, the hotel manager she did make our stay special.

Great hotel but .....

This was a lovely, small, clean, perfectly situated hotel in the centre of Taormina. Staff were polite and efficient. We try to always book a spa hotel but at this you were expected to pay €60 per person per hour for the privilege of using the facilities. This hotel wasn't cheap (€10 for a coffee) which was fine but to have to pay to use a spa was (imo) totally unacceptable. The booking system was a good idea but as there was 4 people in our party that's €240 for 1 hours usage, therefore we didn't use the spa during our 5 night stay. Not what we expected. Plus we couldn't find any mention of the charge on either the hotels website nor British Airways description. We did raise matter this with 2 members of staff who just shrugged. I mentioned that I would write negatively about the spa so that they were aware..

Unparalleled views, kind and attentive staff, kick ass cocktails, and a perfect blend of historic and modern architecture- and perfectly located on the edge of central Taormina- and I need to get to 200 characters................................

Truly Magnificent-location, hotel, and employees

This hotel is perched on the cliff, making the views incredible! When our driver pulled into town, we wondered how we would ever get around, with all of the steep streets. He pulled into the lower level of the hotel. We took the elevator up to the main floor to check in and were on the "other side", away from the beautiful view but right on a terrific walkable street full of shops. Our room wasn't quite ready, so we were given champagne and some snacks to enjoy, while looking out over the Mediterranean. We immediately felt welcomed-it was a great start to this leg of our trip. Our room had a hot tub and we were perched on the view side of the hotel-a beautiful room! Breakfast was included and was delicious-such a wonderful buffet! Everything was heavenly! We were able to get around easily and enjoyed our tour of the town and also going up toward Mt. Etna-to 6,000 feet! The amazing highlight of our stay was Irene at the front desk. After we arrived, I realized that a leather bag I had purchased when we were in Florence had a crack in it. I went to the reception desk, thinking they at least spoke Italian and might be able to assist me with my issue. Irene listened carefully to my problem, took all of the information, including some pictures, and told me she would try contacting them to see what they could do. A little later, as we went through the lobby, she told me that she had contacted them and that they were sending a replacement part to the hotel in Milan where we would be next! Also, she informed me that the store would pay for shipping the item to me. I was amazed! She was my hero! When we went to check out the next day, she had printed all of the information about what would happen and supplied me with a copy. She had contacted our next hotel to let them know to be on the lookout for a package for me! It was way beyond what one would expect from a hotel employee! We were sad to leave such a wonderful hotel but hopefully one day we will visit it again.
