Mold, Bugs & Mystery Stains and Tarrytown House Estate Couldn’t Care Less. On September 27, my BFF and I splurged on a $400-a-night room at the Tarrytown House Estate and, based on its website, we checked in expecting a luxury girls-night experience. Our experience was anything but. The first room we got was on the bottom floor of a 1970s annex that felt like a damp basement and, worst of all, the bathroom had gross pink mold and dirty walls streaked with god knows what substance; YUCK! I called the front desk, but after being left on hold for 10 minutes, I gave up, took photos and schlepped back up several flights of stairs to the fifth-floor front desk (the elevator only goes up to the 3rd floor). The clerk said that due to 2 weddings that night, the hotel was completely sold out. A few minutes later, however, he somehow found us another room. Unfortunately, this bathroom also had some mold but since the mold wasn’t as bad as the first room—and he said the hotel was sold out—we had no choice but to take it. To add insult to injury, the noise and yelling from one of the weddings kept us up until about 1:30am (the schedule in the lobby said it ended at 11:30 which we were fine with; we’re not complete party poopers). BUT, WAIT, IT GETS WORSE. The next morning, we were completely revolted when we saw INSECTS coming out of the moldy hole in the bathroom; SO NASTY! When we checked out, we shared our experience with the manager, Timothy Falk, who barely apologized and asked us to email him the photos and videos, saying he had to speak to his manager. WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN despite another follow up email. When Expedia tried to negotiate on our behalf, they refused to refund any of our money. I’m not expecting a response to this review but want others to be forewarned. This place is a wedding-factory property and don’t give a hoot about 2 tired working moms who splurged on pricey hotel room for a fun and relaxing girls’ night. Do yourself a favor: avoid serious disappointment, lots of money and SERIOUS ICK and stay somewhere else. The Westchester Marriott is about 5 minutes away, the rooms are clean and stylish and about HALF THE PRICE of this ripoff property.

What a disappointment! We were expecting an old manor house stay with warmth and charm. This was a cobbled together hotel development on an old estate. Parking was 100 yards away down the hill. Hotel had a cavernous modern lobby, a budget motel look without any appeal. You have to drag your suitcases through multiple connected floors and buildings with no elevators. There was a $30 pp breakfast buffet in a separate building. Food was more like a Motel 6 than a star rated hotel. Will never go there again.

We booked a two-night stay while traveling south from Rhode Island to Delaware, to spend some time with extended family in the area. We left after one night. The grounds are beautiful with a very large supply of room options. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable but the bathroom/tub/shower was very tiny and slippery. The restaurant (Goose Feathers) has an interesting Cantonese menu, and was very crowded both Friday and Saturday. You really have to book a table days ahead to get in at a reasonable time. Two outdoor weddings had been scheduled for the two days we were there, resulting in constant traffic and outdoor activities, totally interfering in any quiet time we may have been hoping for. Staff were pleasant and helpful but I don't think we will be returning.

We booked 4 rooms for our son's wedding weekend, for us, our son who was to be married our other son, my elderly sister and brother -in-law. My son paid a premium for a wedding package; he and his bride received nothing that was promised, not even breakfast. When I checked out and reviewed my bill I was overcharged by almost $400. The staff at the desk kept insisting that i should accept and everything 'gets checked' later Obviously I did not so and I was refunded the difference. My sister was overcharged similarly by $40. My sons did not check their bills which were far higher than they expected. I called the hotel at least 4 times ( each time transferred and put on hold for 20 minutes minimum each call) before being connected with the manager "Sam'" who promised he would pull the bills and get back to me in the next 24 hours. That was 72 hours ago. I left 6 messages since and no one has ever called me back. Each call involves at least 20 minutes , getting transferred and often disconnected. I can only believe that the errors are intentional and systemic. While there the service was equally horrible .
