Stunning location and everyone was so friendly

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We booked here for my husbands birthday holiday. The rooms were amazing- we had a great view of the ocean. You can go down some steps and swim directly in the ocean but its tidal and there are a lot of mosquitos on the beach area- but some nice patches of coral and fish. We even saw a little eel. The meals were good- we opted for continental breakfast and most nights the main evening meal which was enough for us. They were kind enough to make a cake for my husbands birthday which we shared with the staff- his favourite chocolate cake. The rooms were spacious, very well maintained and hot water for showering. Tea and coffee making facilities and homemade biscuits which was a nice touch. The boat trip to honeymoon island was great and the snorkelling there was amazing. It is a fantastic place for diving- but book in advance it was really popular. The owners were very friendly and Storm was super helpful in organising my husbands birthday day. We would go back to this resort.

Beautiful place in a Great location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Tavenui Island Resort and Spa is a beautiful place in a great location on the island of Taveuni. I, my wife and our adult niece spend 6 nights there in mid-February 2026 in the 2 bedroom villa. It had plenty of space and the small pool was perfect for rinsing ourselves and our snorkel gear off after a swim the ocean. The rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels were provided. There was a coffeemaker and a small fridge with a variety of drinks that was kept loaded. The grounds are very pretty and expertly well kept. The entire staff led by manager Storm are extremely helpful and friendly. In 1974, Ric and Do built Fiji’s first dedicated diving resort, an act that marked the birth of an entirely new industry. At a time when scuba diving was virtually unknown in the country, Ric discovered the pristine marine wonderland off Taveuni’s coast. What he found would later be hailed as the Rainbow Reef, a kaleidoscopic underwater paradise that earned Fiji its global reputation as the Soft Coral Capital of the world. Owner Ric Cammick began building the resort almost 50 years ago while exploring the sensational underwater reefs of Fiji. He established the scuba diving industry in Fiji and he even introduced the Cousteau’s to the island. Ric is now in the scuba diving Hall of Fame and is usually around the resort in the mornings and happy to have a chat with guests, but he is no longer able to dive, and the resort currently does not have its own dive shop. The kitchen does a good job with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everything is freshly prepared and most of the fruits and vegetables come from nearby farms owned by the sons of the owner. Choices are a bit limited, usually 2 or 3 selections for dinner, but they were always good and we were always happy. There are some other restaurants nearby if you wish to explore. We were there for diving and snorkeling, as are most people, and we highly recommend Taveuni. The reefs are in good shape and while Fiji is known as the soft coral capital of the world, I was amazed at how spectacular the hard coral was along with the incredible amount of reef fish. There are some good reefs to snorkel off the beach of the resort. Just go down to the beach at the south end of the resort and swim straight out about 200 yards for some very pretty reefs or grab one or two of the house kayaks and kayak about a half mile south to the south edge of the small bay there for even better reef structure. We brought our own gear but the resort does have a good selection of masks and fins for guests to use. We dove with Taveuni Ocean Sports and they were terrific. They will pick you up at the resort for the 5 mile ride to their dive shop and bring you back all at no extra charge. Owner Julie runs a great shop – she is very dedicated to safety and ocean conservation, and she has a very competent, helpful and knowledgeable staff. She has 3 boats and each dive guide will never have more than 4 people to lead. I highly recommend them.

Taveuni is true Paradise!

Me and my fiancé stayed at Taveuni Island Spa and resort and we definitely plan to come back in future. Everyone including staff and other guests were so kind. The food at the resort was made fresh everyday and was delicious. The resort is in a perfect location right on the ocean. We were able to snorkel right near the resort in the ocean and saw so many beautiful fish. We also hiked Bouma falls and did the coastal walk waterfall hike. All of which was easily arranged through the resort.

The most amazing place to experience Fiji in all its glory

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Taveuni Island Resort exceeded our expectations in every way. The location is perfect, on a bluff above a fantastic reef with incredible sunsets and ocean views. The food was so good, we have never enjoy such fresh fish before! The staff feels like family. Everyone from Storm to owner Ric were open, friendly and did everything to make us feel special. We did both the coastal walk and hike up a mountain in the same day and swam in 3 waterfalls. Stunning and amazing. We were sad to leave and already planning a return soon. Vinaka lovely people.

Great hotel, unfortunately our stay was partially spoiled by their way of collecting payments

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

The location, atmosphere, service and quality of the rooms were all excellent, and I believe that it was good value for money. The views were some of the most stunning I have seen, with breathtaking sunsets. The really frustrating part of my stay was that just before arrival, they charged my credit card in advance for my stay under the name of a completely different hotel in Australia (Karijini Eco Retreats), which caused a lot of panic for my partner and I, because this hotel that we have never heard of had just taken a significant sum of money out of my account, so we thought that we had been hacked and we therefore disputed the payment. We spent the next few days stressing about whether we were going to get the money back in time to pay for our stay at Taveuni Island Resort. At the end of our stay, the receptionist told us that they had already charged us, and that is when we found out that they had charged us under the 'Karijini Eco Retreats' name because that hotel was apparently part of their group, but we had even previously emailed Karijini Eco Retreats, asking them if they were aware of the payment and they never responded to us. Taveuni Island Resort & Spa needs to make their method of payments more transparent and make it clear from the beginning that it is them collecting the money (not Karijini Eco Retreats), in order to save future clients like us a lot of stress and panic that partially spoiled our stay. Other than that, we had a very good time. I would also suggest that they put soap and shampoo in their outdoor showers because it is really annoying having to use the outdoor showers and then walk inside to the internal showers in the bathroom to use the soap and shampoo dispensers that are physically fixed to the wall, so you cannot take them outside with you when you are using the external shower.

We had such a wonderful and memorable vacation - Fiji was absolute paradise. It was breathtakingly beautiful and romantic. Taveuni Island Resort was perfect in every way. The owners and staff were so amazing, friendly and helpful. It was very private and intimate. The food was fabulous. I can't even begin to express how beautiful the room was and how much we loved it. My favorite part was the outdoor shower overlooking the ocean. We were so very happy that we had the opportunity to stay at this resort. I would highly recommend this beautiful place to everyone.
