Awful stay at Fairmont Franz Klammer

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We had a family reunion at this hotel in late February. We had stayed here two years prior and had hoped for a better outcome. It was not. The hotel provides a free shuttle from the Montrose airport. My son arrived at 2:00 pm. Rather than taking the two of them to the hotel, they made them wait for another plane to land before taking them. Understandable if the plane landed after roughly the same time. This plane, however was delayed twice in another airport and arrived at 4:00pm. So my son waited two hours in a tiny airport before they could leave. I was already in the hotel and relayed to them the problem and there was no effort to do anything. This is a “premium” hotel, charging over $2000/night. In addition, we woke up every morning to temperatures under 60 degrees, as the heater and thermostat did not work. Neither did the fireplace. They did accommodate us with some space heaters. We were in room 501. I spoke to people in 505 and 509. They had no issues with their heat. For goodness sake, you can have heat at a Holiday Inn Express for $1850 less per night. I asked for a one day refund for all the crap we went through, but no luck there. I’ve stayed at a lot of Fairmont’s and usually they are very nice. Fairmont should be embarrassed to be a part of this hotel.

Great experience in Telluride Mountain Village

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Overall great experience. Ski in-ski out convenience. Central location close to multiple restaurants and businesses. Service was fantastic from concierge to housekeeping to ancillary staff. The three bedroom residence we stayed in was a bit outdated but very comfortable and clean. The close by gondola going into Telluride was extremely convenient. Would highly recommend

BEAUTIFUL hotel and property. This resort could not be better placed in Telluride. The views, the activities and the restaurants are top notch. The staff is friendly and they go out of their way to help you. We have traveled to this Fairmont 5 times and can’t wait to come back.

Time for the Franz to Clean Up

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed February 17, 2025

"Dated" is an interesting word that might mean different things to different people. But to the frequent traveler it simply means - "old" and "worn out". Such is the place that the once staple of Telluride Mountain Village hotels - The Fairmont Franz Klammer - finds itself in 2025. While it's had plans for renovations for some years, none have come to fruition. Meanwhile, the thin doors - which loudly trumpet the many children running down the halls - and worn decor and musty and mildew smells just keep reminding you that this place is in desperate need of a face lift if not total and complete tear down. That's not to say that its location and proximity to amazing skiing isn't the best in Telluride. It is. Also, the staff and management seem to be trying their best to make good out of a difficult, if not, insurmoutable situation. With the Madeline next door under constant renovation while consistently raising prices and the new Four Seasons on the way - the Franz hasn't much more time to waste...

Best Location on the Mountain

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed October 21, 2024

Outstanding service and the best location on the mountain. Close to lifts, gondolas, shopping and restaurants. We have stayed here in all seasons for over 20 years. The most friendly and helpful staff anywhere. We have stayed at Fairmont resorts and hotels in Asia and Pacific and this is the best.
