The Peaks Resort & Spa

We were on a girls trip, and Cimaron was working the bar. We were celebrating a big birthday! She went above and beyond to make one of our birthdays so special. She also shared some good advice about the area. We'll be back.

This was our second stay at The Peaks in about three years, and while there was nothing particularly wrong with our stay, it felt pretty lackluster this time around. One of our biggest disappointments was learning that the on-site bar and restaurant are no longer open for regular hotel guests and are now only used for private events. This wasn’t something we realized before arriving. It wasn’t a huge issue since there are plenty of places to eat in Mountain Village and Telluride, but having a restaurant and bar in the hotel was definitely part of the appeal for us previously. It’s a very convenient location in general. It also was a relatively quiet/chill atmosphere, but not sure if that’s because it’s about to be offseason or there weren’t that many guests. We actually ended up in the exact same room we stayed in three years ago, and it looked essentially identical. The rooms are perfectly functional, but they’re starting to feel dated and like there hasn’t been much investment in updating the property. That stands out even more with the Madeline actively renovating its rooms and a Four Seasons being built nearby. To be fair, The Peaks is significantly less expensive than the Madeline and will almost certainly be much less than the Four Seasons, so there is definitely a place for it in Mountain Village. The kitchenette and two full bathrooms were also extremely convenient traveling with kids. But even at the lower price point, I’d like to see some effort put into refreshing the rooms and amenities rather than the hotel simply relying on being the more affordable option. Overall, it was a perfectly fine stay, but nothing about it made us particularly excited to return. We’d consider staying again if saving money was the priority, but otherwise we’ll probably try somewhere else next time.

I was in town for business and felt compelled to write this review because of my wonderful experience. The rooms are comfortable, immaculate, and beautifully appointed, with a mountain feel that makes you immediately feel at home. The beds were comfortable, and every detail of the room felt thoughtfully designed for a relaxing mountain getaway. One of the highlights is the Great Room at the entry, which offers some of the best views of Mountain Village. I especially enjoyed sitting outside on the balcony while working on my laptop and taking in the incredible sunset views over the mountains. Overall, The Peaks Hotel combines comfort, beautiful mountain character, and spectacular views. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
