A deeply uncomfortable and disappointing experience at Omni Tempe I am currently staying at the Omni Hotel in Tempe, Arizona, and tonight I experienced one of the most uncomfortable and insulting dining experiences I have ever had at a hotel. I went to the restaurant inside the hotel and was greeted by the host. The first question I was asked was whether I was staying at the hotel. I said yes. She then walked me all the way to the back of the restaurant, despite there being plenty of open tables toward the front. I did ask if I could sit toward the front, and she did accommodate my request and moved me. Shortly afterward, the woman who appeared to be my server came over to pour my water. Before asking how I was doing or welcoming me, her first question was, again, whether I was staying at the hotel. I said yes. She then asked, "Well, what are you doing here?" I was taken aback. I reluctantly answered, "For work." She responded, "Oh, okay," and then asked if I was ready to order. At that point, the entire interaction felt extremely uncomfortable and insulting. I was sitting next to two white couples, and I couldn't help but wonder whether they were being questioned about whether they belonged at the hotel, whether they were guests, and what they were doing there. I want to be fair and acknowledge that the host did move me when I asked. However, the repeated questioning and the overall tone of the interactions made me feel singled out and unwelcome. I cannot know what was in anyone's mind, but the way I was treated made me feel as though I was being singled out because I am Black. Regardless of intent, the impact was deeply uncomfortable. I ultimately could not bring myself to eat there. I got up and left. As I was leaving, I saw the host and the server talking together. I approached them and told them directly that I had felt extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. The response I received was essentially, "Okay, great. Thank you. Have a good evening." There was no attempt to understand what had happened, apologize, or address my concern. I then asked to speak with a manager. A gentleman told me he would get the manager. He returned and said, "I'm sorry, I forgot. I'm the acting manager. She stepped away." At that point, I decided to leave rather than continue the situation. I do intend to speak with management tomorrow because this deserves to be addressed. I am not someone who looks for reasons to be offended, and I understand that people can ask questions for legitimate reasons. But there is a difference between a normal guest-service interaction and repeatedly making someone feel as though they need to explain why they are there. I was a paying hotel guest. I belonged there. I should never have been made to feel otherwise. This was not simply poor service. It was an experience that made me question whether I was being treated differently because of the color of my skin. No guest should leave a hotel restaurant feeling like they were being questioned about whether they belonged there. Omni Hotels & Resorts — I sincerely hope this is taken seriously, that the employees involved are spoken to, and that no other guest has to walk into your restaurant and leave feeling the way I did tonight. DO BETTER.

Its a must stay hotel! Every detail is thought out for the guest's convenience. I loved it! My advice, do the pool! Take a walk around the block and come back for some sweet tea. Amazing!

Hotel- nice Location- prime Staff- unfriendly, unwelcoming and I don’t think they’re train to smile. It’s part of the Chase edit hotels but the staff acts very robotic. No emotions
