Adrift in the Atlantic Ocean, west of Morocco, the Canary Islands are home to the beautiful Hotel Botanico & The Oriental Spa Garden. This magnificent hideaway is surrounded by more than six acres of landscaped gardens in Puerto de la Cruz, on the northwest coast of Tenerife, Spain. Watched over by Mount Teide, the hotel blends regal Thai influences with warm local hospitality. Fine dining in four restaurants will satisfy your corporeal appetites, while the spa is devoted to soothing your spiritual side.

Our second visit here, from the arrival and reception to checking out you feel a valued customer, unbelievable cleanliness, the room has been updated since our last visit and was clean and comfortable (however please let us cool the rooms on a night and have better control over the aircon) Breakfasts were good, high quality food and lots of choice, great friendly staff) We always ate out but the restaurants look good and busy. Highly recommend a stay here

Agree with an earlier review by Gary B. Doesn't make sense that a hotel of this calibre with a "state of the art" aircon system doesn't switch it on in winter. The 3 restaurants were all good but difficult to get into - so book online in advance if you can. Also, the earlier you book the better the table (as perceived by the restaurant - in the Oriental, that seemed to be the case). Given 4 stars as the positives far outweigh the negatives. Housekeeping and Room Service are great. Pools (particularly Spa) are fantastic. Gives the sense of opulence and luxury.

A fantastic hotel, with a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Nice rooms. A great pool area and spa, and very good restaurants. This was our second stay, it was as good this time as it was three years ago. We will return.

This was our first experience with a 5-star hotel and Botanico far exceeded our expectations. I could make a very long list of the wonderful features and ambience of this hotel, but sometimes it is the small, almost unnoticeable things that matter the most. What we tremendously appreciated was how QUIET it is. It must have been constructed to block noise between rooms and we heard little if any noise from the hallway. This obviously allowed for a calm, undisturbed and relaxing stay. Loved it!!!

Overall, but with some qualifications, we enjoyed another return visit to the Botánico, this time for seven nights. The hotel is a calm and elegant oasis in the La Paz district of Puerto de la Cruz, close to its famous Botanical Garden, and a good base for touring the interesting historic towns of northern Tenerife. The city centre is c. 2 km downhill, the northern airport is a c. 30 minutes by taxi and the southern one c. one hour. The hotel continues the botanical theme with its own beautiful garden and offers an outstanding collection of local and Asian art in the public areas. The spacious spa offers a wide range of services and there are also well-designed outdoor pools. There are several city and regional bus services close by and taxis are inexpensive. The hotel also offers a - somewhat limited - shuttle service to the city centre. Breakfast is a sumptuous self-service buffet. There are three elegant restaurants - we found all of them good but not exceptional and quite expensive by local standards. And three of our four dinner bills had a mistake (once in our favour). The bar's club sandwich was the best we can remember. All the staff we met were exceptionally friendly and helpful. WiFi was easy to use but rather slow. Our ‘de luxe’ bedroom, while adequate and with good lighting, was more four star than five star in ambience and furnishing. And the bathroom was three star - small and badly designed, offering a tiny shower with poor controls, and too small a bath. We thought our room rate of over $500 a night (b and b) for a ‘de luxe’ SE facing room rather high in context. And some extras were seriously overpriced, e.g. the laundry charges, and $17 for a glass of ordinary wine from the minibar. The Botánico is generally a relaxing and pleasant experience, and it offers friendly staff and an elegant ambience in its public areas. It’s five star by most criteria but our room, and especially its bathroom, were far from GL status.
