We stayed in this hotel two years ago, at which time I wrote an extensive review. So this one is shorter, but as complimentary. We returned to the Botanico hotel almost precisely 2 years after our previous visit. Nothing has changed, the hotel is still well maintained, the staff are still wonderful and cheerful, the rooms are still kept to a high standard. The garden is still lovely, the pools are warm and clean. The only thing that had changed was 'storm Teresa'. We arrived a few days after the storm had commenced and wondered how it would affect our holiday. Fortunately on the north side of the island it wasn't so bad as it was on the south. In difficult circumstances the hotel generally and staff managed the demanding situation very very well. Anything under the hotel's control was just as good as it was the first time we came here. Things outside the hotel's control like the weather was adapted to admirably by the hotel. So they get five stars because they still made the hotel a lovely place to stay under difficult circumstances. And thank you for another lovely holiday.

Very traditional (in a good way) hotel near the botanical gardens in Puerto de la Cruz. All was as expected from previous reviews. The gardens, pools and spa are magnificent- very authentic Thai style. The room, although comfortable was on the small side (not enough room to leave a suitcase open) but clean, with nice linen, big fluffy towels and altogether well equipped. The hotel restaurants get mixed reviews so we ate out - there are good restaurants in the area at lower prices. The hotel is about a km from the main town and sea in a quiet area. An easy walk down but a tougher one back up the steep hill (although there is a shuttle, we just preferred to walk). Breakfast was a pretty good buffet, although I didn't find it as good as some reviewers. Freshly cooked egg dishes available from the chef but bacon has been cooked in a slab making it quite unappetising. Great selection of meats, baked goods, cereals and fruit etc. Good gluten free options and lactose free milk available. Note that free continental breakfast offered in the room only includes bread, coffee and juice. Any ham etc attracts a supplement. Spa included nice pool, steam rooms and sauna but check prices if you may want treatments as I thought them expensive. Staff very friendly and responsive (tea bags in room not topped up one day - sorted within the hour). A few families but generally the clientele was retired people: not somewhere to go for a lively holiday but perfect for a luxurious break.

We stayed 4 nights at the Botanico and it was excellent. The property and gardens are superb. The rooms are large and well equipped. The service is top notch. On the downside the breakfast was disappointing for such hotel.

This was our third time back to the Hotel Botanico. All the staff across all areas of the hotel are really helpful and professional. We stayed in an Ambassador suite - which is a great size rooms with nice views. Weather was a bit mixed while we were there, so spent a lot of time in the indoor pool and spa area which is really lovely. Pool temperature was just right! Ate in 2 of the hotel restaurants during our 1 week stay. The Spanish and the Thai restaurants, both of which were excellent with very attentive staff and quality dishes. Had a few drinks/cocktails and some bar food in the Bar Hall, which were also very good.

This is a fabulous hotel the only disappointment was that we were only there for 4 nights. From check in to check out the experience was fabulous, the staff cannot do enough for us. We were in an Ambassador Suite, highly recommended I have to say, loads of room and just as good as anything we’ve had the pleasure of staying in. All the facilities were fantastic from the pool to dining the gardens and we used the spa which in itself is exceptional. Definitely plan to go back at some time.
