Reviews for Aman Tokyo

A though not A+

Finally decided to throw down $4000 to stay here for 1 night and see if the accolades are true The staff at L1 car lobby are indeed very good. How good? They line up (all 5 of them) and bow to you and the taxi driver as you drive off Check in less so. After taking away our passports, she came back to say my partner’s name can’t be found. I suggested she check mine, since i made the reservation The lobby is famous and rightfully so, the ceiling is a sight to behold The room is large, kinda. For the price, you’d expect more. The bathroom is roomy. The tv tiny. In-house branded amenities. There is no view, you see tall buildings and construction. The mount fuji view is from the lobby/breakfast restaurant Breakfast was laborious. Waited at the front desk for 10 min as there was no staff, just staff scuttling past you. Then when she arrived, you’re asked to wait in the lobby , another 10 min. Waited another 10 min to have our order taken. Then a last 10 min wait to get food. No buffet, just a la carte. And it was ok, not mind blowing The gym is decently sized Final thoughts - maybe top 10 in tokyo, but not top 3 if you include value. The price is sky high, but you’re brought back to earth pretty quickly 9/10

Great view and chic

We went during the summer holidays. The hotel is close to empty, the front desk staff are just ordinary. hence, it does not feel Aman or classy. but the views are truly great.

A Tokyo oasis with a few service glitches

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

This is a visually stunning property with all the characteristics of calm and service for which Aman is known. The reception level is especially striking, with impossibly high ceilings and an overall feeling of absenting oneself from the Tokyo dynamic. Aman has really outdone itself in creating an urban oasis in one of the most urban of all urban environments. I could quite happily live the rest of my days in my lovely suite as a matter of space, light and design. The most surprising part of the property was the weak English from so many staff. Aman has properties in wildly remote locations and nevertheless has teams of exceptional staff with full linguistic capabilities. Not so in Tokyo. It was not an exception to have a staff member on the phone where communication was just very difficult. There was also a regrettably formalistic approach to food service hours. At this price point, guests should be pretty much able to do as they wish and the hotel should unfold around them. Instead, there was quite a rigid approach to when and where one could eat, which was especially odd given that there appears to be one central kitchen. Nevertheless, if you missed the cutoff in one establishment, you were entirely out of luck not only to sit there but also to have the dishes from its menu - and there was no traditional Aman sense of meeting the guests' needs. Rather, the rules are the rules and that's that. It was all odd given that the "restaurants" are literally beside each other. But the soaring design in a city known for parsimony as to space makes up for a lot of foibles.

Words Cannot Describe How Good This Hotel Is

Amazing. My stay at the Aman Tokyo has probably ruined all my future hotel experiences. I don’t think you can do better. The lobby is breathtaking. It is so spacious with spectacular views over all of Tokyo. The light music playing almost makes it feel as if you are floating on a cloud. It is truly spectacular. The room was also very impressive with perhaps the best hotel bathroom you can find. Showering or bathing with a view over Tokyo was surreal. Finally, the service is top notch. This was perhaps the best and most professional service I have ever experienced. I have no idea how they did it but every employee called me by my name. The service while extremely attentive is not at all intrusive. They have perfected the ultimate luxury hotel experience. A gracious woman by the name of Ro checked me in and also checked me out. She was phenomenal. Finally someone from the hotel escorted me to Tokyo station and helped me with my luggage and tickets. It made it a stress free experience. I cannot wait to get back to Aman Tokyo.
