5 star in every way. Attentive staff, large clean rooms with comfortable beds. Wonderful views over the capital. Great location with easy walk to the train station and nearby parks. Variety of in house restaurants to choose from as well as a 7-11 on the ground floor. Lovely breakfast buffet each morning. Very enjoyable stay!

Nice Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I have literally passed by this hotel for decades. And, I do mean, decades. I've always noticed it, but I never stayed at it until my most recent visit to Tokyo. Basically, what happened was that I had to make a quickly planned trip, and the hotel I normally stay at in Shinjuku, the Hilton, was fully booked. So, as I was looking around for another hotel, here on Tripadvisor, this hotel popped up. I thought why not? I spent a full week at this hotel; seven nights. So, I feel like I have a pretty good idea about what goes on here and what you can expect. To describe this hotel, the moment you walk through the door it is a very expansive and dare I say, elegant hotel. The lower floor, where you enter the hotel to travel towards the reception desk, is very open, airy, and nicely situated. In terms of their rooms, this is an older hotel, and you need to keep that in mind. It appears that this hotel has not gone through the massive room renovations like some of the hotels that were constructed in the 1970s and 1980s have undergone in Tokyo. Thus, the rooms at this hotel are a bit small and seem a bit dated. This is not to say they're not comfortable. But, that's just something to keep in mind. Perhaps, most importantly, they are very well maintained by the staff. The downside to my room was that the moment I walked into the bathroom it had this strange smell. I'm guessing that smell was due to the drain that is in the bathroom floor—as is very common in Asian hotels and it had not been fully cleaned of late or something? As I have a very sensitive nose, it was a hard smell to deal with. But, it eventually diminished over the time I spent at this hotel. In terms of the guest makeup, this hotel has a large influx of large tour groups. So, there will be sometimes when a group has just arrived that it is a bit hard to travel up the elevators as they are all standing around with their suitcases. Just keep that in mind so you will know what to expect. One of the good things of note about this hotel is that they have this great space for relaxation on the forty-seventh floor. It looks out over the whole city, so you have an incredible view of Tokyo, day or night. On this floor, they have several different spaces to relax or have a drink. Very nice space! From my experience, the staff here are all super nice. They're always happy to help you out with whatever you need. In fact, I developed a serious sore throat while I was staying at this hotel, and I asked the Concierge to guide me in the direction of a doctor. He did a GREAT job! He made me an appointment. Took me out to the taxi, waited with me until the taxi arrived, and told the driver exactly where to take me. Excellent! Thank you! You were a GREAT help! Overall, if you want to stay right in the heart of Shinjuku, this is an excellent hotel for your consideration.

Good hotel, good location, in parts a little dated

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We stayed for 6 nights. The good: The staff were so helpful and friendly The location was good and not far from the subway station, most of the walk was covered walkways, which was good when it was raining/cold The lounge and bar were lovely and had excellent views of the city. The room was a good size for Tokyo We had a great view of the light show on the metropolitan building from our room The bed was comfortable There was good quality shampoo, etc. in the bathroom The bad: The room we were in was dated (south tower) and showing signs of age, particularly the bathroom The bathroom had a shower curtain rather than a glass screen There was always a queue at breakfast, which felt inefficient and took ages to get seated (sometimes 15 or minutes of queuing) - particularly when the cruise ship groups arrive en masse. We would stay here again if we went to Tokyo but would consider one of the more modern recently renovated rooms. Tip: Sign up for the rewards programme, we ended up getting free access to the lounge, which had some soft drinks and hot drinks included.

Keio Plaza Shinjuku

Wow! The Keio Plaza was fantastic. I booked rooms on the Club Level without knowing much about it and the experience was wonderful. Upper floor rooms with incredible views, private club level for breakfast, afternoon tea and happy hour, and impeccable service from the Club staff. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Great experience at the Keio

We stayed in a Premier Grand King room for 3 nights. We were treated like royalty from the moment we entered the hotel. The room was spacious and well appointed - and scrupulously clean. High end skin care amenities were restocked every day. Premier Grand rooms are located on the high floors of the hotel and include access to the Club Lounge on the 45th floor. Here, you'll find your included breakfast and evening drinks and appetizers - all of which are included in the price of your room. The choices are varied and in the morning you can get eggs cooked to order. The evening appetizers would pass for a small meal. Try to get a seat along the windows so you can watch the evening's light show on the Government building. The Lounge is also open during the day and has two sections - one with tables for eating, one with sofas and other easy sitting chairs. Note that if you need an earlier start, the Premier Grand breakfast is also offered in two of the main restaurants on the 2nd floor - these have a much larger selection. Our room was quiet and comfortable and looked over the Government Building. The bedding and linens were high quality as was the bed and bathroom fixtures - the shower was heaven. The hotel's location was excellent for us as we walked the Shinjuku, visiting everything from Shibuya Crossing to Kabukicho. Be sure to check out the Keio store near Shinjuku Station. The staff were simply perfect. From bellhops to front desk personnel to those staffing the Lounge and restaurants - they all made our stay magical.
