Reviews for Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo

Comfortable base for family exploring Tokyo

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

The Keio plaza was a comfortable base for our family to explore Tokyo. The room we had which was a family double had four single beds so plenty of space for two adults and two young children. Breakfast was a good combination of Western and Japanese food. Onsite laundry was a bit crowded you had to queue to start your laundry. The gym facilities were also a bit small for a hotel of this size by international standards. But I was told fitness centers are an uncommon luxury in Japan. My kids also enjoyed playing on the 47th floor lounge, and asked for extra time there each day. The location next to Shinjuku station was the perfect base for us to explore Tokyo. My one warning for international travelers is be very specific around the size of your party including young children. We hadn't included my six year old on the reservation thinking <6 is free, but we had to downgrade rooms or pay a lot extra to include her.

great location but tiny rooms and bathrooms with uncomfortable beds and sheets

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

The hotel itself is in a great location in the heart of downtown Tokyo very close to Memory Lane and other famous spots. I also appreciate that they have a 7-Eleven market on the basement floor, which was extremely convenient on late nights. However, the rooms themselves are extremely small, with even smaller bathrooms. I also did not find the beds very comfortable at all and all the little things like the towels in the bathroom and the sheets themselves could really use an upgrade in quality, they are way below 4 star quality. I understand this is more of a business travel hotel than a luxury, but still, there could be some improvements. The staff was friendly overall, but the hotel itself could also use some interior upgrades and refinishing to stay competitive. I would say my favorite part of the stay was the breakfast buffet downstairs, which was pretty nice although did lack in options.

Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo

We chose this hotel expecting a 5-star experience, but unfortunately it fell short of those expectations. The location in Shinjuku is convenient, but the rooms feel quite dated and don’t reflect the level of quality you would expect at this price point. The overall experience felt more like a standard, functional stay rather than something elevated. Service was also inconsistent. While nothing was outright negative, it lacked the warmth and attentiveness that Japan is typically known for. With the high volume of guests, the experience felt more routine than personal. Overall, it’s not a bad option, but it doesn’t stand out—especially when compared to other properties in Tokyo that offer a more modern and refined experience.

Very good hotel popular with guided tours

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Very good functional hotel and a useful landing spot for the first nights in Tokyo. Food is typical of a tour hotel, perfectly adequate but nothing special. Service is very efficient. Beds are good and there’s a nice touch of a dehumidifier in each room. We had connecting rooms for the family so that was really useful. 7-11 in the basement has decent snacks open all night good for the jet lag . Overall quality of the hotel is very good and happy to recommend

Perfect location.

This hotel is in a great location. A two minute walk to Shinjuku station where you can access all of Tokyo. We had 3 large single beds. Room was big with a nice view of the city. Bathroom was great with extras like razors, toothbrush, hairbrush etc. Lots of places to eat. We ate in the same one twice and we were all happy with our food. The 7eleven on site is great. Also if you stay in the hotel you get a discount in the bars and restaurants.
