It began with a desire to create a truly Japanese hotel with elegance and comfort equal to the world’s best luxury hotels. Hotel Okura originally opened its doors in 1962 guided by this powerful vision. In 2019, The Okura Tokyo marks a new beginning with two distinctly branded wings: the restrained and elegant the Okura Heritage and the Okura Prestige, a modern, urban hotel. The Okura Tokyo is suffused with the refined and elegant Japanese aesthetic and a commitment to providing Japanese-style hospitality to each and every guest. We are waiting to serve you with our unique version of Japanese hospitality.

First-Time Visit 1 Upon Arrival, concierge staff were very quick to assist us with our luggage. Perfect! 2.Check In, made it quick but covered all details we booked with Club benefits. 3.The room at the corner was very nice, very well designed and layout, look and feel very warm tone furniture. The lights control panel was easy to use with curtain open and close functions in the tablet. Room Service is available on the tablet too. 4 Shower and bath tub are very nice, very well toiletries. Everything we needed was prepared there. All towels were very good quality. 5 The Water temperature in the shower was strong. But the rain shower didn't come out well. So requested staff checked and done. 6 The Club Floor had a very nice view and attentive staff to the care of guests during check in and escort. 7 Mini bars, wine glasses, and water glasses were well prepared. 8 The Sweet in the tray, was prepared with surprises in the box. 9 Key card and room door were nice and real quality. 10.There was wine opener in the room. 11. Beddings were very nice.Soft and clean. Very well sleep. 12.Extremely Disappointed about the point to earn as booked the room via OTA, online agency.Made our trip so meanless. Now we just stay and just wait for the day to check out. 13.Evening Cocktail.Staff weren't walk around to top up more drink, only when asking for more, and seem like not allow us to top up drink ourselves. It looks strange. 14.Afternoon Tea, bread canape were stick and not easy to eat. 15 Turn down service was neat and organized.

The rooms are very spacious and clean. The breakfast is great. Views from the hotel are beautiful. Not all the staff are fluent in English but most are. The area is a bit secluded but nice.

The Okura is the other side of the coin, and equally essential. Where the Park Hyatt is vertical drama, the Okura is horizontal calm. The 1962 original building is a masterpiece of mid-century Japanese design and the restoration preserved it perfectly: the lantern lobby, the geometric screens, the low ceilings that make you feel held rather than dwarfed. The Prestige Tower rooms are some of the most considered spaces in Tokyo. The Orchid Bar is a time capsule in the best sense, quiet, precise, perfectly made drinks. Service here has an older-school formality to it that feels increasingly rare. If the Park Hyatt is Tokyo now, the Okura is Tokyo as it always should have been.

Somehow I always meet the most pretentious, snobby, arrogant and self-important service staff here, unlike anywhere else in Japan. This place is truly a hierarchical nightmare. If you’re not a VIP (e.g. president of a certain country) or a local veteran guest/businessman, they will not respect you.
