Reviews for The Okura Tokyo

A fabulous stay awaits you.

Nestled between the creations of Richard Neutra and Mies van der Rohe, this extraordinary building, designed by architect Yoshio Taniguchi, is situated in a beautifully landscaped business district. It's no wonder world leaders stay here, as the hospitality reflects the hotel's exceptional quality. A scene from a James Bond film was shot in the vast lobby. The rooms are particularly comfortable, as is the enormous breakfast room with its seemingly endless buffet. A fabulous stay awaits you.

The most amazing experience

I’m currently in another hotel in Kyoto but I can’t stop thinking about the amazing experience I had at the Okura Tokyo. I’m afraid that no other hotel in the future will provide me as great of an experience as I had here. If you want a more traditional room, book a room in the heritage wing. We got a junior suite in the corner with an amazing view of Tokyo. Sadly we couldn’t see Tokyo tower from our room. The room was large and spacious for Japanese standards. Pros: - Beautifully designed functional rooms - Heated shower floors so your feet aren’t cold when you walk into the shower and the floor dries quickly - Luxury toiletries - Large closet and plenty of storage space - Black out curtains and shades - Taxis on standby and walking distance to public transportation - Amazing staff - Comfortable mattress and pillows (no stiff neck issues here!) - Quiet and peaceful, the moment you walk into the hotel you just become relaxed I can keep going but you’ll just need to experience the hotel yourself! Cons: - Room service menu was disappointing - Rain shower didn’t have great pressure but the handheld was great TLDR; I feel like I need to leave my current luxury hotel and head back to Tokyo

Great location, large indoor pools and excellent staff

We stayed here total 7 nights and booked for club lounge access. Upon arrival, reception was all polite and ready to help. We booked the corner room thinking it is 60sqm was surprisingly small with no partition of work desk and bed. We went to club lounge and it was dull and quiet. Alcohol served are good quality but food display was a bit of a letdown. What is great is the pho soup section (made to order) and only opens at 6pm. However all started looking good the next day! Went to the gym (opens at 6am SHARP only) and LOVE the swimming pool of 25m (5 big lanes!). Swimming pool is quite empty in the morning but gym is crowded 6-7am as it seems their gym is accessible by outside members hence they should really give hotel guest to use it by 5am? The onsen is spacious. They also provide all the lotion from cleansing face to hair treatment. My suggestion is to have a BIG LOUD sign right at the ladies room upon entering to REMOVE shoes if not pay a FINE! I keep seeing several caucasians who refuse to remove their shoes and walk around the very clean floor. Is a shame Japanese are such polite culture and I hear staff frequently asking the caucasian ladies to Please remove your shoes. If you pay for the club lounge access, you can choose 4 resto for breakfast daily. The reception level is where everyone can access to, is often a zoo at 9am. When you reach there even though inside cafe have lots of empty tables, they'll tell you to wait and wait and wait as they've to assign a table and talk to few people, then after 5-10min, someone will come to take you to the table, end up a long queue which is so unnecessary. Do not go there if you have choices. Food display looks very nice but quality is not. The Japanese fish are poor. I was there 10min. and left quickly. Yamazato Japanese breakfast is good, club lounge breakfast is simple and has eggs to order. French resto breakfast is a lot of fine dining display but actually serve very simple American breakfast. Hotel location is good, 5min. walk to Toranomon Hills Hibiya line and also walking distance to Ginza line. You can also walk to Shimbashi. Room service and turn down service are brilliant! So good I wish all the Europe 5 star hotels come here to learn from them. Staff are so nice and helpful, we'll come back here to stay again should we be back to Tokyo.

Heavenly hotel.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The most attentive staff, beautiful rooms perfectly equipped, Zen-like calm everywhere, great breakfast. Heaven.

The best in Tokyo, by far.

In my opinion, this is the best hotel in Tokyo. The rooms are incredibly well-designed: every switch and control is so logically and beautifully placed. I've stayed at this hotel perhaps more than half a dozen times and on the recent visit, I had a room with an eastern exposure: the sunrise was gorgeous and the new high-rise office towers on this side were very beautiful at night. The service at this hotel is definitely a 10 out of 10. Finally, the breakfast buffet is great. This is definitely my go-to hotel when I visit Tokyo.
