Fairmont Royal York

I have an excellent experience with the Fairmont Royal York most specially my new found friends Leni & Analiza from housekeeping. I will come back because of them.

We only stay at the Fairmont Royal York when we are in the city. Another perfect experience and Fe our housekeeper was incredible. As always, the Royal York is highly recommended.

This property is supposedly a 5 star hotel. On arrival the check in process took over 30 minutes as they were only two staff checking guests in. The deluxe room we booked was clean but dated. The bathroom is tiny. The shower over the bath takes 10 minutes for hot water to appear, then when you’ve finished showering, there’s 12 inches of water in the bath tub as the water doesn’t escape. The whole bathroom is tired and needs an upgrade. The duty manager told me 5 star is about the hotels facilities and the room, which didn’t include the bathroom. Really. I was also told all deluxe rooms have not been renovated. This was not made clear when booking or on the website, otherwise I would not have booked it. The duty manager failed to understand the issues and wanted to move on. Poor. The hotel allows dogs for an additional $50.00 a night. We had a dog barking next door to us for ages. The duty manager said the hotel does not discriminate against people or animals. What a bizarre response when I, as a paying guest I was being disturbed. If I wanted a room next to a barking dog I would have booked a room at the local kennels. The two hotel bar service is slow. Everybody is very nice but the speed at which people operate isn’t fast. Overall the experience at this property was poor. I would suggest people think very carefully before booking it. The Hotel relies on its name and as a result has become lazy. The level of service is not what one expects from a 5 star hotel.

My partner & I are travelling through Canada & decided to choose The Fairmont York to celebrate my actual 50th Birthday & experience Niagara Falls the next day! Upon arrival where we checked in it was lovely that Brad & team (Head of Guest Services) left a bottle of Prosecco in our room however that was where the buck stopped! Front desk was a disaster & disappointment as they shuffled about trying to find our booking, Chaos & people everywhere! Finally we were escorted to Concierge where the only person that made our 2 night stay a pleasure was Monika! Her assistance in booking a fancy restaurant for my birthday was perfect & on point! Thank you at least to you Monika! I strongly suggest to the Fairmont to allowMonika to train up the rest of your staff! We discovered as we had an early flight on Wednesday to Vancouver that we can’t use the breakfast that has been charged to us as we leave the Fairmont at 6am…. Understandably we asked if maybe they could honour a few drinks at the bar or something to the value of the breakfast of which it was denied by the front desk supervisor once again!…. Absolutely Disgraceful To anyone reading this I strongly recommend using another hotel such as the Shangri La down the road as The Fairmont have every excuse as to why they can’t make anything happen & refuse to reimburse you in any way!! Sadly it’s ruined my big celebration & would hate it to happen to anyone else!!! So extremely disappointed I truly wished I experienced the Shangri La instead of this tired hotel…. I won’t be coming back to The Fairmont York Toronto ever again

What a nostalgic hotel! I would recommend it here, lovely hotel with so much history! Stayed a few nights and the team really helped making the stay special Great to see photos of the queen and various VIPs that enjoyed the hotel
