Fairmont Royal York

I reviewed a Fairmont at less than 5 several years ago. Instead of a cut and paste "sorry about that, we hope you will let us try" the Fairmont chain took corrective steps. I had to chance to verify that at this stay. As you would expect from a premium hotel the experience was all 5. Concierge helped book tickets to a concert and used knowledge of the local venue to suggest seats. Check in walked us to the elevators, which are different, and got us on our way to the room. This may seem like over-doing it, but the York has a unique elevator system that is so much more efficient and secure than anything I have seen. And they have a complimentary morning newspaper, a real luxury in this day of screens. I little thing, but no other hotel stayed in during a 27 day trip even knew where I could buy a newspaper. All little things. All you pay for. But you don't always, or even often, get.

Well located. Beautiful lobby. Rooms are fine for a work trip. A special shoutout to Cristina in housekeeping as my room was always spotless and thoughtfully made up.

Our stay at the hotel was 5-star; the service was truly excellent—from the reception team, with Mohamad providing brilliant service (ably assisted by Mr. Dino), to the housekeeping staff, specifically Ms. Fe, who is so dedicated to her work. We appreciate the wonderful and attentive service provided to guests. If we return to Toronto, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Today Anastasia Perepelytsia saved the day! Fast, professional and kind. I forgot an item of value at the Fairmount hotel, and she not only found it but made it seamless.

We stayed here for 5 nights while visiting Toronto for the first time. The location was perfect for all the main attractions. We walked everywhere except for one day when we took the train to Casa Loma and walked back. Everywhere else is reachable on foot for a reasonably fit person... St Lawrence Market, Distillery District, CN Tower, Kensington and more. We stayed in a Deluxe King room. It was very large with loads of space, great storage, large bathroom, good shower and a Nespresso coffee machine with pods provided every day. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't give us fresh bottles of water every day, especially as a Platinum Accor member. I get that in a Novotel, nevermind a Fairmont! Otherwise the room and servicing were great. We had very nice mocktails in the Library Bar. Great vibes in there and good staff. We didn't drink or eat in the main bar or restaurant but I did like the feel of the place. Very lively at the weekends. When we checked in on a Friday night, it felt like we were entering a cool bar or night club. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but we loved it. Very cool. We had room service one night and the food was excellent. The mushroom pate and the falafel rice bowl were way better than I'd expect from room service. The gym was excellent with lots of machines and a fantastic free weights selection, which you rarely get in hotel gyms. Sauna was great too. Didn't use the pool. My only very minor complaints are the point about water above, the bell boys at the door not offering to help with our cases, and that I didn't seem to receive any perks or special treatment as a platinum Accor member. Still a 5 star rating but I would have expected something in return for my loyalty to the Accor group, which I do receive in other Accor hotels.
