Reviews for Four Seasons Hotel Toronto

Fell short

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

As a frequent guest of Four Seasons properties worldwide—visiting between 8 to 10 times annually for both business and leisure—I deeply value the dedication, service, and attention to detail that the brand consistently represents. This commitment is precisely why I remain loyal to Four Seasons and make a point of returning to the Toronto property for at least one week twice each year. I share this review for the attention of management and ownership, from the perspective of a long-standing and loyal guest. Prior to my recent stay in Toronto, my family and I spent time at Four Seasons Dubai at Jumeirah Beach. The contrast in service and overall guest experience between Dubai and Toronto was, unfortunately, stark. Both my wife and I were disappointed to see a noticeable decline not only compared to Dubai, but also compared to our previous visits to Toronto. As the flagship hotel of the brand, Four Seasons Toronto should exemplify excellence—not fall short of expectations. One of the most pressing concerns is the fitness center. The equipment is outdated, some of it more than 15 years old, with rusted dumbbells and no amenities beyond tap water. For a property charging over $1,000 per night, this is simply unacceptable. Owners and management are surely aware of this issue, yet it remains unresolved. I would strongly encourage sending the management team to properties such as Four Seasons Athens, Hong Kong, or Dubai to experience firsthand the standard that should be met. Even Four Seasons Bali, which opened in 1991, offers a fully modernized Technogym setup. Another recurring issue is the breakfast offering. When a guest books a rate inclusive of breakfast, it should genuinely be inclusive. Each visit, I notice Café Boulud increases prices, yet the credit allowance remains stagnant—rarely covering the actual cost of breakfast. This is inconsistent with nearly every other Four Seasons property worldwide, where breakfast inclusions allow for full menu flexibility without nickel-and-diming guests. Overall, this stay left me with an underwhelming impression, which is disappointing given the Toronto property’s importance within the Four Seasons portfolio. On a positive note, I wish to commend Danilo, Leon, Harry, and many other staff members who delivered service aligned with the Four Seasons brand promise. Their professionalism and attentiveness reflect the high standards I expect and continue to appreciate. Michael

Toronto's finest hotel

I stayed at the 4S Toronto for three nights. Including the third night free offer, the average price per night was just under CAN $700. Although I would usually stay at the RC in Toronto, for this trip I chose the 4S and am unlikely to swap back to the RC, As much as I enjoy the RC, the 4S Toronto really is that good. The rooms are finished to an exceptional standard with marble bathrooms and bed-side tables, a huge bed, custom broadloom, rain shower, separate toilet, acres of wardrobe and dresser space, tasteful and dimmable lighting, a high-quality minibar, steamer, Frederic Malle toiletries, fancy B&O speaker, both bath and shower in the vast bathroom, and sweeping views across Yorkville and beyond. The spa and fitness centre are on the 8th and 9th floors and offer a pool, sauna, steam room, treatments (at extra charge) and well-appointed gym all finished to the same high standard. Breakfast is a la carte in the Cafe Boulud on the 2nd floor and is in keeping with the rest of the hotel (I prefer a buffet). It's an outpost of NYC-based Daniel Boulud and also offers lunch and dinner. I did not eat there. On the ground floor there is a coffee shop and cocktail bar that gets busy with Yorkville beautiful young things of of an evening. Niggles? If you have meetings in the CBD it's less handy than the RC and there is no his 'n' hers basins. But that really is nit-picking. This is a most accomplished hotel and gets my 'best of Toronto' award.

Extremely comfortable stay. Great service, in the heart of the prime district.

I stayed for 10 days. The location is prime, on Yorkville avenue and just steps from the trendy restaurant area. The staff were very helpful, and the concierge service went over and above with bookings and assisted me with multiple things. The food at the hotel was excellent, especially in Boulud. When there ask the bartender for a cocktail (i recommend the forget me not) . The flat iron steak was my favourite lunch. Room and bedding were extremely comfortable, and you can ask for a specific pillow of you like.
