Reviews for The Yorkville Royal Sonesta Hotel Toronto

So-so

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Mixed bag of experiences: reception staff is super friendly only to be super strict when asking for an earlier check-in. I know your rules but if you have rooms empty, please explain what is the rationale to treat loyal Sonesta loyalty program members this way: really you think you do yourself a favour? The restaurant was horrible: I ordered a cappuccino only to wait for 45’ (you read it right) and still receive absolutely nothing: there were three tables being served and two staff…. Incredible. The bar staff was super nice again but the food was not great. The rooms are actually nice but for my next Toronto trip, I’ll go for plan B.

An enjoyable visit

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Picked this place fairly short notice, had an enjoyable stay. The location is good with easy subway access to downtown, most places walkable from the hotel also. Pool photos impressively photoshopped, in reality was quite tired, not to mention very small. Special request for room was honoured. Room was a bit stuffy with no openable windows. Air con in the room was hit and miss, the last night the room was 25C even though AC set to full cold. Tea/coffee supplies in room quite stingy. Some dusty areas in room never cleaned like base of bedside lamp. The pillows were massive, uncomfortably so - staff well aware of the issue but could offer no alternative. Restaurant wasn’t bad, but there are some strong alternatives in the immediate area. Barman in the proof bar was very friendly and helpful. On balance it was a quite reasonable stay.

nice hotel but broken steam room

The location and hotel were nice. But the steam room in the spa was broken. I called and asked them to fix it, but the next day it was still broken.

poor standard of rooms and outdated decor

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

very poor standard of rooms, underwhelming food in the restaurant, lack of places to sit in the lobby, broken doors and only 2 of 3 lifts in operation. The decor is outdated, and furniture in the roomwas scuffed and scratched, with old bathroom fittings.

Nice hotel

Nice hotel to spend a couple of days exploring Toronto. It’s a little pricey for what it is but that’s Canada generally. I would definitely stay there again
