The Tortuga Lodge was fantastic - clean, spacious rooms with a long view across the canal. Iguanas, monkeys and rainforest animals all around. The staff exude the Pura Vida spirit and work hard to please their guests. All the activities are fun, engaging and led by very knowledgeable guides. We identified over 100 animals during our 4 day stay. Thank you Tortuga Lodge!

The rooms were great except no fridge. It was nice not having a TV but fridge would have been nice. Service was amazing and people are so friendly.

Just came back from a long weekend in this magical place. Perfectly situated on the river, surrounded by nature. The staff are excellent, very helpful in every way. Rooms are super, clean and pretty and looking out onto the river. The excursions are well worth it. We saw the baby turtles being released. We went kayaking which was so beautiful and peaceful and we did an easy hike in the jungle. We would go back to Tortuga lodge anytime. Thanks to our guides Manuel and Adrian.

Wow I can't say enough about our experience here. I lived in South Africa and have experienced top-notch eco tourism before but Tortuga raised the bar. People have limited time and money (tourist dollars!) and I left feeling that not only did I have a memorable experience, but that too I had made an investment for the future for others to enjoy because of the care for the environment as well. Food, service, everything was wonderful. in addition - we had an issue with noisy neighbors and they remedied the situation in such away comparable to how say the Ritz- Carlton would have done. Worth the money all around for an excellent Tortuguero experience from the point of booking to food, excursions, a massage, transportation etc. Will definitely book again with Boena to see other parts of this truly beautiful country.

If you want to visit the jungle, while still staying connected to the luxuries of modern living (mainly AC/WiFi), then this hotel is the place for you. Every aspect of the journey to and from Tortuga Lodge was beautifully executed by an absolutely amazing team. From the boat captains to the guides to the servers to the concierge, everyone at Tortuga Lodge not only seemed to enjoy their position, but also sought to elevate the experience of all guests to another level entirely. On that note, I would highly recommend getting the full package that includes meals and tours. You are essentially “trapped” at the lodge (in the sense that the only way to and from is via boat), and the last thing you want to be doing is stressing about meals and/or how to get to tours. Tortuga Lodge had amazing guides for every tour, and every guide oozed passion for the jungle that surrounded us at every turn. The property is beautifully maintained, and we were able to spot spider monkeys and iguanas daily from our room. On a final note - I’m sure this is a given, but do not visit Tortuguero during nesting season and skip out on the night time nesting tour. This was a once in a lifetime experience, and Owen was a fantastic guide. The people of Tortuguero go out of their way to ensure that tourists can experience the majesty of the green sea turtles, and it is an honor to share the experience with them.
