Great resort but some issues with front office

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We had a wonderful stay at the resort. Great amenities and everything was super clean. Also, it was not very crowded while we were there. A huge shout out goes to the people who work in the activity center in particularly Kaitlin who went over and above to ensure my kids had the most amazing time. We did the escape room and we had so much fun. She was the best!!! The only issue I had was with the abruptness of some of the front office staff. When we checked in, our first room had an ant issue and Kirean (who was fantastic) quickly helped us change rooms and offered us a one hour later checkout (11am) due to the inconvenience. We honestly didn’t make a fuss about this at all. We were just so happy we were able to move room so quickly but we really appreciated the kind professional gesture. However, on the morning of checkout, I got quite an abrupt call from the front office at 10.40 inquiring why we hadn’t left the room and when I informed the young lady that we had a late check out she told me I should have called that morning to confirm that it was OK (which we were never asked to do). I have never had this experience in any of the resorts I’ve ever stayed. It turned out the rest of my party who were in three other rooms also had a negative experience with the front desk the same morning. I don’t know if the person was having an off day, but they definitely could’ve spoken to everybody in a kinder tone. Thankfully, the rest of the experience was amazing.

Absolutely amazing customer service

Our snow chains broke right outside the lodge, and Javier and Thomas came out and spent two hours (including jacking up our car and removing a tire) helping us remove them, fix them, and get them back on. They were incredibly helpful, friendly and kind, and the manager of the lodge was okay with my family waiting inside as we had two small kids with us. All the staff were very welcoming and supportive, and I fully intend to stay at this lodge next time we got to Tahoe.

Beautiful Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 months ago

What a beautiful setting the minute you pull in. We stayed in a 3 bed/3 bath unit. It was absolutely beautiful and very rustic. The unit was very clean and offered all the amenities of home with a fully stocked kitchen to make whatever food you bring along. The Viking appliances were easy to use. It’s a cute little village offering groceries, restaurants and coffee shops. It was very sparse for this time of year. I’m sure winter offers a vibrant setting.

Great spot for couples or families!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed June 12, 2025

We just stayed here and absolutely loved it! We made a last minute reservation after our Airbnb fell through and this was our first Hyatt Vacation Club rental but we are now hooked! The rooms are spacious and beautiful and include a full kitchen and ours also had a washer and dryer - definitely a comfortable place for longer stays. The patio had a beautiful view and fireplace which was the perfect spot for morning coffee and a nightly glass of wine. It’s not on the water but has a full fitness room, pool and several hot tubs onsite. The staff was so nice and friendly and even recommended a local hike (Memorial Trail) which was beautiful. The location is secluded and quiet (just a short drive to King’s Beach or Truckee) and Northstar Village has some nice local restaurants to enjoy (CoffeeBar is a must!). Highly recommend!

Misrepresented Fees and Requested to pay double upon reserving - Scam

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed September 3, 2024

Didn't make it to this desired location. Was at a concert at Chase Center in San Francisco and there was a kiosk with a friendly representative for this 3 night /4 day premium hotel offer at Hyatt Vacation Club at Northstar lodge for only $200. I asked many questions and specifically, if this was all inclusive - no other fees. She said yes, you just have to make $100k+ /year and attend a 2 hour timeshare presentation. Well, I called to make reservations and the customer service agent said the location only has two or three studio units reserved just for this program.... and if I paid a $250 more, I could have a fully appointed room that is more comfortable and in cloase proximity to the restaurants and services...seriously?! I reiterated the kiosk employee's statement of "no additional charges" and he said that is not possible. I forfeited my $200 and hung up. Hyatt Vacation Club is a dishonest scam. Do not waste your time and money on this timeshare company.
