Northstar Lodge, located at the base of the world-renowned Northstar California ski area in Truckee, California, is a ski-in/ski-out resort, complete with its own unique, pulse-driven gondola. Featuring exclusive exteriors with native materials for a naturally weathered appearance, while luxuriously warm appointments set the mood within creating a high-alpine sensibility. The Village at Northstar offers great dining options from casual fast to sit down and savor. Try Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Rubicon Pizza Company, or Manzanita at The Ritz Carlton for starters.

What a beautiful setting the minute you pull in. We stayed in a 3 bed/3 bath unit. It was absolutely beautiful and very rustic. The unit was very clean and offered all the amenities of home with a fully stocked kitchen to make whatever food you bring along. The Viking appliances were easy to use. It’s a cute little village offering groceries, restaurants and coffee shops. It was very sparse for this time of year. I’m sure winter offers a vibrant setting.

We just stayed here and absolutely loved it! We made a last minute reservation after our Airbnb fell through and this was our first Hyatt Vacation Club rental but we are now hooked! The rooms are spacious and beautiful and include a full kitchen and ours also had a washer and dryer - definitely a comfortable place for longer stays. The patio had a beautiful view and fireplace which was the perfect spot for morning coffee and a nightly glass of wine. It’s not on the water but has a full fitness room, pool and several hot tubs onsite. The staff was so nice and friendly and even recommended a local hike (Memorial Trail) which was beautiful. The location is secluded and quiet (just a short drive to King’s Beach or Truckee) and Northstar Village has some nice local restaurants to enjoy (CoffeeBar is a must!). Highly recommend!

Didn't make it to this desired location. Was at a concert at Chase Center in San Francisco and there was a kiosk with a friendly representative for this 3 night /4 day premium hotel offer at Hyatt Vacation Club at Northstar lodge for only $200. I asked many questions and specifically, if this was all inclusive - no other fees. She said yes, you just have to make $100k+ /year and attend a 2 hour timeshare presentation. Well, I called to make reservations and the customer service agent said the location only has two or three studio units reserved just for this program.... and if I paid a $250 more, I could have a fully appointed room that is more comfortable and in cloase proximity to the restaurants and services...seriously?! I reiterated the kiosk employee's statement of "no additional charges" and he said that is not possible. I forfeited my $200 and hung up. Hyatt Vacation Club is a dishonest scam. Do not waste your time and money on this timeshare company.

We were driving through on a roadtrip, and this place was so comfortable we decided to stay for an extra night. The resort village is quiet in the summer, but it was fine for our family. We ordered pizza, enjoyed the pool and game room, and spent time in Lake Tahoe. We had a two bedroom condo, and it was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Highly recommend.

Other critical reviews here accurately reflected my experience. Pros: The 2 bedroom "villa" was clean and spacious. The hot tubs and pool were clean, the water very clear. Grasshoppers in and out of the water, alive and dead, were notable but didn't bother us. Cons: #1 problem is the concierge/service and amenities are not up to par for the price and for 4-star property. Concierge gave wrong info or didn't know anything about the Northstar resort (ie. when the gondola runs) even though the property is right next door. To make the experience better for guests, the front desk should make the effort to do some research and be prepared to help guests. Second, a call for extra towels took hours for it to be brought up. Four separate calls for an extra blanket were completely unheeded. Third, other 4-star properties for this price provide extra touches to make guests feel welcomed - drinks in the lobby, newspaper, flashlights. But I realized the amenities and service are probably subpar because this is a timeshare property and not a hotel per se. So as long as you go in realizing that, then you might not be disappointed. Finally, during the summer, there are hardly any places to eat on the property. We would not stay again.
