Not worth the visit; Forced tipping

We went here for lunch and our first impression was 'ok, its a nice place'. The waiter then seated us next to what would be a construction area. They were working on a sliding door, drilling and hammering. Couldnt even have a conversation. We get our bill and he forced us to tip him 20%. Why is gratuity not included if thats the case? $83 for water and 3 plates. Small portion. Overpriced and overrated.

They cancel your reservation

I chose habitas Tulum because I had a great experience with them in Morocco. I booked 2 ocean front tents 5 months in advance. I confirmed 2 months before traveling. 2 weeks before my vacation, I received an email stating they “could not honor my reservation because of a private event”. That’s not the worst part. In the apology, they offered to help find another hotel. When I said “yes”, I needed help, they never responded again. DO NOT stay here!

My stay at Habitas Tulum was absolutely amazing. I truly loved the room with the private pool — it made the entire experience feel exclusive, relaxing, and unforgettable. Waking up and enjoying that peaceful atmosphere was something special. I would definitely come back again and again. The reception staff treated me wonderfully, especially Elder, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional throughout my stay. Everything exceeded my expectations.
