Trump Turnberry

I called the hotel on Monday the 15th of September with a view to arranging a golf excursion for the 8 of us. I spoke to Gemma in reservations who I must say was polite at all times, I only wanted to query something I read online before I went ahead with the booking, it was regarding male facilities being removed from the resort. Gemma laughed at this as it sounded so ridiculous and honestly I had to agree with her. She then put me through to the spa to clarify this issue, the Spa reception told me that they can confirm the male relaxation suite has been dissolved and is now unisex. I asked to be put back through to Gemma and I made her aware of this change as in her own words “they could have informed us”. I informed Gemma my party would have to rearrange to Gleneagles whom have subsequently confirmed to me that they have dedicated male facilities and a general respect in this area. I also informed Gemma that the Resort information online states and I quote “there are male and female changing rooms and relaxation rooms” This is incorrect and false advertising. The fact the Male facilities we have enjoyed on several occasions have been dissolved is terribly silly and utterly disappointing. We shall not be returning. Yours Sincerely S Whitley

I’ve been lucky enough to stay at Turnberry both before and after the Trump makeover, which involves a bit too much gold and chandeliers for my liking, but overall it’s kept its character and whatever you think of Trump he’s undoubtedly invested a lot into this wonderful hotel and made it truly world class. We’ve previously stayed in the apartments as a family of 4 ( super spacious), the cottages ( chic and cosy) and this time in one of the deluxe rooms in the main hotel as a couple. The room was luxurious and very comfortable. The pool was as lovely as ever, and we had a delicious and quite reasonably priced meal in the clubhouse. A few minor things I would change- the lounge no longer serves food after 5pm. I didn’t want a formal dinner, so the only other option was the golf clubhouse, which was fine but I would rather have had a light bite in the main hotel. Breakfast was delicious- and even included champagne- but we had to ask 3 times before got coffee and had just about finished our breakfast before it had arrived- a blip in the otherwise great service. The other thing I would change if I could- but I know realistically won’t happen- is the in-your-face Trumpism- for example when you arrive there’s no escaping the cabinet near reception which houses amongst over things those “make America great again “ caps. I know he owns the hotel, but not everyone who visits is a republican, and I’d rather keep the politics separate from my holiday.

We had never been to Turnberry before and it is absolutely beautiful with the best views ever . From the moment we arrived the amazing staff could not do more to help both in the restaurants and the concierge at the doors who ferried us about in the shuttle bus. The 1906 restaurant food was delicious . The breakfasts really lovely and was nice to be served . Highly recommend such a lovely place for a chill

Lunch visit . Everything superb as expected, Staff are a credit to Trump Turnberry . Beautiful views , beautiful hotel and scrumptious grub. Cannot wait to visit again.

Wonderful welcome day 1 but that’s where it finished. Worst night sleep, bed was terrible. Tea, Coffee facilities not fully stocked. Nobody on reception at checkout, had to leave the key card on the desk. Day 2 transfer to the golf course ended up in a walk. They were more interested in padding to YouTubers than helping all hotel residents, appalling level of service. Staff at the golf club house were excellent, hotel staff shocking.
