About the Hotel
COMO Castello Del Nero, Tuscany, is an exceptional and serene 740-acre estate in the world-famous Chianti wine region of Italy - and COMO’s first property in Europe. The unique twelfth-century castle features 50 rooms and suites, many of which have views across the surrounding Tuscan countryside, and the breath-taking Villa San Luigi.
The castle’s historic, fresco walls and vaulted ceilings remain untouched, while Milanese interior designer, Paola Navone, has introduced a light and modern ‘COMO’ aesthetic. Our headline villa sits in the heart of COMO Castello Del Nero’s estate, a short drive away from our hotel. It embodies modern Tuscan luxury with its infinity pool, wellbeing annexe and sweeping views. Stays at Villa San Luigi are defined by ultimate seclusion with optional access to all the hotel’s services, experiences and activities.
COMO Castello Del Nero has two dining locations: the Michelin-starred La Torre restaurant showcasing gourmet Italian cuisine using the finest Tuscan produce, and Pavilion, an outdoor restaurant open in the summer, offering ‘al fresco’ Mediterranean dining. La Taverna is a relaxed bar and our COMO mixologists are ready to give every drink a modern twist. The estate is also home to a comprehensive wine cellar perfect for wine tasting experiences and private dining, and its own vineyard, beehives and olive groves. It is literally ‘farm to table’, with the garden carefully overseen by Executive Chef Giovanni Luca Di Pirro.
Italy’s long wellness heritage is reflected in the resort’s COMO Shambhala Retreat, where therapeutic massages and expert treatments are designed to help guests take positive steps to improving their health. In addition, there are tennis courts, e-bikes, a heated outdoor swimming pool and complimentary morning yoga. A relaxing hotel very close to Florence
This is our second visit here, and we were very pleased to see the introduction of live music and drinks on the summer terrace. The Olive Grove supper with live music was also truly wonderful, with festoon lights swinging in the trees and candles creating a warm and joyful experience, it was really quite unexpectedly fun with an international crowd. It was one of the highlights of our holiday. The hotel has outstanding views of the rolling hills of Tuscany, and a very calm and relaxing vibe, within half an hour of Florence. The restaurant by the pool was great, with authentic Italian food, good views and great service. The Michelin starred restaurant was not terribly appealing as they only serve dinner inside which is disappointing on a beautiful summer's evening - and it was more expensive than the Four Seasons Firenze! I think there is much that can be done to make the formal dining option more attractive to guests. The breakfast is also quite frugal. We stayed in the heritage suite. The Frescoes were really quite special, and the views are beautiful - the rooms are beginning to look tired, and may need a refresh soon. We enjoyed our stay, but it is looking older now. The new GM is very present and switched on, he genuinely takes an interest in every guest and runs the hotel beautifully. The staff are very well trained, and seem very genuine. The hotel pool area is incredibly peaceful and comfortable, with prompt pool service and lovely touches such as complimentary ice cream and iced waters etc. It is hard to tear yourself away! All in all this is a great hotel for those looking to be close to Florence and Siena, but also looking to relax and unwind and take some time out of life. We enjoyed it!

Family holiday
What an amazing hotel! The location is breathtaking and the hotel is outstanding. We stayed in the suit and it was very spacious and the bathroom was very large. We really could not have faulted the hotel at all. The staff were very efficient and friendly and the rooms were spotless and well keep. Lionel was exceptional. He was as a great help in suggesting towns to visit and restaurants to try. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a spoil.

Amazing trip
The location is amazing. The grapes and all of the hike paths you can see are all beautiful. There is one small pool, if you bring a family there could be some people trying to relax but it is okay. The rooms are pretty average for a hotel this expensive and beautiful. I would pay a lot more to stay here it is amazing.

Deep breath!
This resort will transport you into another world. It is absolutely stunning at this time of the year. You could sit for hours, just staring out at the landscape. The staff truly go out of their way to accommodate any request and or friendly and helpful.

Nice place but overpriced
Hotel is placed in restored medical monastery. Rooms are well appointed but underdeveloped with some minimal details and furniture. Restaurant serve good but not exceptional food. We came with a group and our stay was prearranged and paid through the agency. I was surprised to learn that one night stay was more than 1000 euros. It was more than twice more than what we paid in previous hotel in Tuscany that was better in every way. Most shockingly they charged tips of 40% on a cocktail that my wife had during closing reception. Overpriced and average experience at best.
