Hotel Villa Ottone

Gone glory. Why this accomodation still holds 5 stars is a mistery to us. Decades ago this was probably glorious compared to the standards of that period. Standards have changed, unfortunately the accomodation didn't change with it. The location is absolute stunning, no denying that. The room however...dont even know where to begin...dated, hairs are covering a moldy and with calcium deposited bathroom. Ants made a nice highway across the bedroom wall. A frontdoor that wont fully lock. When having a taste for coffee a sachet of desolvable coffee is offered...no machine...would however be nice if that sachet was actually full. Leaking airconditioning outside on the terras of which the exit water of the airco just runs on the terras itself. Beds our nice and comfortable though although we hope, and maybe pray a little, that the brown stain we found of the footend of the bedsheet is chocolate and not some bodyly fluid left by the previous guest. We are appreciative and humble people and are not the type that complain abiut neglectable details. But this accomodation holding 5 stars is a miracle on its own.

Beautiful older hotel just 15 mins from the ferry harbor, in a quiet bay which over looks Portoferraio. We stayed in the original Villa. Really nice, clean room over looking the bay. Grand staircase, bar and patio where highlights. Nice pool and secluded quiet beach. Grab a drink before dinner (and after) overlooking the water and sun set. Great drinks from the bar and great group of friendly associates.

I absolutely adore this place and look forward to going every year. Its charming location, friendly service and gorgeous views are enchanting. Villa Ottone and the crystal clear water of Elba gets me back here every year and is a special yearly family tradition.

Beautifully situated on the edge of Portoferriao bay Ottone is a magical place. The views from the restaurant at sunset are absolutely stunning. This winter the hotel has had some major refurbishments and the outdoor pool is a wonderful place to relax. The staff are extremely professional, welcoming and helpful. It is worth booking on a half-board basis because the restaurant serves an excellent 4 course dinner of typically Italian food and there is a great choice of hot and cold food at the buffet breakfast. We always look forward to our annual visit to the Villa Ottone, which is why we have come for the past 10 years and plan to continue in future.
