Surrounded by 24 acres of parkland embracing a fragrant herb garden, pine wood meadow and 19th-century walled vegetable garden, Chateau de Massillan is a Provençal treasure. The property dates back to 1550, when it was owned by Diane de Poitiers, the famed lover of Henry II, and its superb location in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône wine region makes it an ideal holiday destination. With its lush landscapes, fascinating Roman archaeological excavations, exceptional hiking trails, and rich palette of centuries-old vineyards, this area is the lifeblood that links Provence and Languedoc.

Chateau Massillan is a beautifully renovated chateau that has retained its old world charm. We stayed in a suite which was spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were very helpful and courteous and the food was amazing. We had dinner in their beautiful courtyard and every course was exceptional. We will definitely be back next time we visit the region.

Poor customer service, polyester bedding, industrial shower gel, pathetic overpriced breakfast… the list goes on

I contacted the property two days before my scheduled visit due to a family emergency, hoping to either cancel or receive a credit for a future stay. Unfortunately, I never received any response. The only communication that followed was a request to rate my stay, which was disappointing given the circumstances.

We had an awful smell in the toilet/bathroom of our room in the Chateau. We should have reported it immediately, but it was only a minor smell when we walked in the day of our arrival, because the window of the bathroom was wide open (for obvious reasons, we realized later). When we closed the window in the evening and got up the next morning, the smell was unbearable. I reported this during check-out and the lady questioned my complaint because "they never have any septic problems". We feel that this smell must have been a well-known problem, so I was surprised that they did not offer any compensation for this inconvenience.

We stayed here as part of a Backroads cycling trip through Provence. The property is beautiful but our room itself was a bit dated, tired and very small. We did, however, have a fabulous dinner here! One of our favorite meals in Provence.
